At what point in the HW leadup were Au Ra revealed?

I'm wondering if the grand scheme was to reveal Viera at Japan Fanfest from the start, but then leaks happened and they decided to rush it.

I'm unsure about the leadup; though regarding the second thing I'm sort of in agreement. However, since Fran was introduced they probably thought that it was more than obvious we were going to get Viera. There's nothing really 'new' about Viera due to them being in past games; which I suppose is different from creating a race from scratch. It's why I'm holding out that the males - which are the exciting 'unknown' part about Viera that we - the fanbase - do not know about. After all, nothing that they've shown so far is considered 'new' - not even their race armour regarding Viera. The lore is the same, the history seems to be intact from previous games, the differences between the subraces are the same and isn't much. Right now, welp, they're kind of boring? The mystery is the males.

I thought about that, but it would still be very different if we didn't have the leaks, and thus no confirmation that Viera were coming. There'd be the name-drop earlier in Ivalice, then Fran's appearance, and at this point everyone would be speculating whether they'd be playable at all. Then they'd do the race reveal at Japan Fanfest, all at once, whatever it exactly would show.

I mean the newness is the fact that you can play them in the game lol. And it's exciting because people have been asking for Viera forever. I don't think familiarity detracts from them at all, especially since that's precisely the reason people begged for them.

Still a shot at males, but I meant more the general population of players. Like people want their character to be Viera. And they only want that because they know what Viera is. Plus, if new is what you want, let me introduce you to this enigma known as hrothgar.

While I'm interested in Hrothgar I'm not keen if they look too beast like. If they're more like Byakko then I will probably switch over; I prefer my toons to look handsome and lean/muscular. I'd still be very irritated by the fact Hrothgar is genderlocked; if the male viera doesn't exist - bleh.

like do they even have tails if there so lion like will miqote cow tail become even more of a joke
but certainly wont give up hope on male viera or the fight for them
