Gender locked race?

Not even acknowledging it at the art panel seems like a mistake. Surely they know everyone's asking.

If they're trying to build up hype, it's causing more negative than positive press in the meantime.

And if they're not including males, the extended wait is only going to make the backlash worse.

If the Lion race thing is real and is male-only, it's going to need to absolutely blow people out of the water with how amazing it is if SE wants to stand any chance of avoiding the backlash of female-only Viera.

Given that the Lion race is something no one asked for, and male Viera is something that people have been looking forward to for years, I don't think it's remotely possible for Lion race hype to outweigh Viera disappointment.

Honestly what compounds my disappointment with this is the way they are dancing around it, when a company does that it's typically because they know it will anger people but are trying to get away with something anyway. Would I still be mad if they came out and said female only, yes, but it would be a much more calm anger.

I know things are heating up through this thread and all, but honestly we have until July. There's plenty of time for more news and SE wants people to be excited for this. I've seen cases where entertainment companies ranged between ignorant, indifferent, and actively hostile toward customers. That works out for them about as well as you'd expect. From everything I've seen, that seems to be the precise opposite to SE's approach.

I've been wrong before, but in case it helps those worrying I really think this is going to end up being okay and fans won't be left without. Just a question of timing. And to people who are annoyed at fans who are freaking out and consider this small stuff, just wanna encourage you guys to relax too. You still have a fantastic game coming up. Focus on what you're excited for, it's not worth it to stress about other people being stressed.

There's no good reason for that, though. Au Ra were announced with both male and female and SE should know by now that people will complain about gender-locked stuff, which is usually exclusive to glamour. A race? While I have no interest in Viera at all (they look like a Miqo'te-Elezen hybrid with rabbit ears in this game), SE should know that there'd be a much bigger outcry over that.

I sincerely hope they don't gender-lock Viera. They have so much creative freedom to fill in the blank that exists when it comes to the males (since they've never existed in a game before), I don't understand why they wouldn't seize it. I just find it so strange that they haven't said a word on whether the men will even exist at all. I will be sincerely disappointed if they don't allow us to make males.

They have the freedom after all i say since FFXIV is its own game in the franchise, i mean if you look at FFXI they als had "Miqote", "Rogadyn" which were gender locked, tooked those and made there own in this game, why not make the same with Viera, its another Universe simply, homages and inspiratiosn to the franchise as a whole are ok but give me something new Square, i would had even prefered Bangana as playable race but asian market and there "cute characters", the Viera as shown now in 14 are also less beastly as there originals, same base model as always sadly with just ears anda tail added again basically, the feet are the only example so far.
