My hope is that the leaker just wasn't privy to everything going on in development. It sounds like he left SE at some point to work elsewhere so it is possible his information is months old considering how far ahead the dev team plans things. It might be they just hadn't started work on male Viera by that point.

That might be unlikely, but it's how I'm keeping hope alive till japan fanfest. :v let me live my fantasy.

To add here, the leaker said he is working at cygames right now. If I were cygames -> Kick. You dont need people that leak information in your company. How can they be certain that leaker wont also leak cygames information? Or better, how can that leaker actually drop such information? Isnt that a bit to risky - or just dumb?

To be fair, you can still be smart about it even then. Saying "I used to work for SE (where I might've gotten this info) and now I work at--" was the stupid part because like a lot of people said, it really narrows down the options XD A lot of other things they said about themselves weren't favorable as far as their current employer is concerned, either

Yeah I think only the latest leaker mentioned no male Viera, the one posted a few posts up was probably responding to the Blufever leaks about "it not being Ronso". Really though, the earlier discord leaker was where most of the wrong facts came about, i.e. melee support blu mage and hauberg glamour piece, blue mage being pre-order only etc. So who knows what to believe lol. I doubt anyone is doing fake leaks for "fame" but I could see someone being a troll to freak people out about not getting male Viera. Also I 100% don't believe the dev team is behind the leaks lol. Either way, slowly inching our way towards fanfest and the inevitable disappointment we all shall receive no matter where our desires lie.

Definitely not behind the one you linked, between how much it was bashing SE and praising the company the person supposedly moved to. But the in-game leak of "Hrothgar" right after the Paris FanFest, and it only existing in the French version, is a very interesting event. Assuming Hroths are coming, they won't be any less left field with this thing than they were before, but other than leaks and hoping, so was Gunblade so the two are actually comparable. But that's also exactly why it wouldn't have mattered that much if no one found the "bug", making it a bet worthwhile for SE to make. Either it goes unnoticed, or they generate even more buzz and conversation, and ended up giving us a leak themselves without actually saying anything explicit.
Which in a way is brilliant because it also let them test the waters - if Hroths were well received and the danger of no male Vieras wasn't so present, they might go with it. But if Hroths were rejected, or more simply, people still frothed at the mouth for male Viera, it might give them an idea of how to proceed.
Then there's also the fact that Hroths not only never appeared in any other language, but never before in the game files, either... this is me putting my tinfoil hat on, but it's just too well constructed to really have been an accident.

Either way, slowly inching our way towards fanfest and the inevitable disappointment we all shall receive no matter where our desires lie.

At this point I will be stunned if Hrothgar and Dancer are not shown.

On a related note, I asked a WoW veteran friend if Blizzard has ever separated gender reveals on different events and she explained that the female worgen were shown first because the males were not ready to be shown at the time. Though, I feel if male Viera weren't ready to be shown in Paris, Yoshida would have said something. The complete silence on this matter was calculated.

When I read the "I work here" comment I just imagine the leaker still working at SE and being like.. I hate John, John left to work at Goingtogetrekt Games, I'm going to insult a bunch of people and continue leaking and blame it on John huehue. They'll never catch me now!!! lol.

That said I'm not certain on the discord leaks yet, could be educated guesses and reiterating information in a way that might appear new.

Definitely calculated, adding with the comment that he was contrarian and giving heavy feelings to not wanting to be predictable and have surprises. I feel there is probably some internal talk about trying to balance out new and old and a strong desire to make sure that things do not feel stagnant/predictable. Just a guess though.

For me it is the omission of the new race's name that has me most skeptical about the leaks

Not that guy but the first guy begged not to be asked for more because it would spoil more (+story in another comment) which he didn't want to do... In that they may not have given us more. I imagine if the race is a thing it'll have some key point to the MSQ. That's why I pulled the Kuribu lore book comment that they're made in the vision of otherworld creators and that the kuribu and obviously the winged lion both have lion ties (and are in the shadowbringer trailer). Which is a bit like "nani?" lol.

I understand you find it weird but their consistency (first person) is so high that I personally wouldn't bother with "that sounds weird". There is no way they could have just guessed at what they've got right.

Now I know you're including the discord bits into "leaks" but I do not consider them hard cannon. It's still possible they've made some guesses and reiterations (also possible they're real, but I'm not sold either way yet). The first guy however is just real at this point, imo at least lol.

So I guess I just leave you with a shrug and say that at least with the first guy I find anything suggested very tangible if not slightly off from what is real just due to misspeaking.
