Gender locked race?

Guess i'm not going to be touching veira. no way i'm gonna let people assume things about me and especially not those things.

While real-world associations are unfortunate, people aren't necessarily going to assume the same thing about in-game Viera. It's just going to be another race. If you actually want to play as a female one, and are only worried about what people in-game will think, I don't think you need to be. Just go for it, and play her in a way that doesn't support those associations.

I'm guessing that they'll try and use lore as at least a partial excuse. Though if they do, the lore won't be the REASON for the gender locking, it'll just be the convenient shield they try to use.

Yea, they can't really use that excuse when male miqote are just as rare. It just sucks that the new race will get caught up in the backlash over this.

Not necessarily the latter - the problem with inferring that all leaks stand on the same footing is we don't know the source for the gender-lock. The leaker just stated it's so. If it's their assumption based on localisation work leaks, it may still be in error. We've already seen that these leaks have varying accuracy.

Really, the basis for the G'raha Tia thing was there the minute he appeared in the art. People are being willfully blind to it, insisting it's a female au ra or some other catboy who just happens to look near identical.

Lol I'm really wondering how they would tie in Crystal Tower for people who never did it in the first place.

There was an interesting post on this on Reddit:

I remember the Plot hooks from both CT and Ivalice. In the final CT Cutscenes Nero dropped his detector into the deep chasm at the CT ... which started beeping again shortly afterwards and in the final Ivalice scene we see that they intend to use the Thanatos to reach the center of Hydalin.

If I remember correctly that detector was used by Nero to detect the Power of Darkness so that thing beeping again after dropping it there has some implications.

The poster meant the robot dude and not Thanatos and he's alluding to Tartarus.

Although the Crystal Tower is likely to be involved in somewhere, purely due to what it's capable of, I find the above to certainly appear to be a promising connection. Can anyone confirm the detector part? I don't have any screenshots saved from the CT stuff.
