Gender locked race?

Tbf I wouldn't play viera either, well I would, but as an alt. Too married to my blue cat :P

I'm also of the mind that XIV NEEDS a beastly race, I just don't think we should shoehorn that role onto Viera men. The design would look just too artificial and be yet another "men be scary, women be models" trope which is boring and needs to die. I DO want hulking cat men and women tho. (Not Roe style where women are kinda strong humans and men are freaking meat walls, no lets get some comparable skeletons going on here!(roe women are great tho don't get me wrong))

Though I disagree that something extreme has to happen. Moonkeepers have nothing happen and they still kick out the men. It could just be how they do. Tho I do like the idea of them kicking the men out to just curb the LUST and the males are so aggressive because of the frustration that lifestyle brings.

Also I understand what you're getting at with moonkeepers but I'd also suggest to keep in mind that if /nothing/ happens then male Viera will look like children. Moonkeeper males still go through puberty. Although I get you were suggesting "doesn't have to be extreme" , so maybe we can agree nothing happening is a bit awkward but how much something is up to discuss.

I actually like the idea of the males looking more 'attractive' than the females. Though here's a thing, if they're so rare in number and the likes. Who fights for whos attention? Do females have to compete with other females to get a males attention? One line the Dramaturge shared was regarding 'souls' so I thought of took it that they had soul mates or something and perhaps bonded with a specific female? But at the same time? Hmm... It honestly makes me curious about how that works. Or is it futurama snoo snoo type of deal - then yeah, the dudes really need that damn endurance.

Maybe that's a sign of the limitations of the worldbuilding within the lore of the game. These questions are legitimately raised by the implications of having such few male numbers, yet we don't have answers to them.

I, too, wouldn't want kid looking viera. It wouldn't seem right, and I don't just mean because of the shota/loli thing. Still, I'm on the side of bunbros that look "pretty," but Legolas (or Aymeric?) pretty. Not necessarily like straight up women but without boobs.

Since you lorewise can't tell the difference between a female or male viera until they hit puperty I imagine they're elegant, ballet dancer-ish with a slender physique. You know, amano-looking pretty men, players could have an option to have height and face options that enable them to look sexy or cute according to the players wish? That should satisfy a number of players no?

The lalafell point is a decent one I think. I wouldn't mind them looking like Alphinaud either tbh. So either Alphinaud pretty or Aymeric pretty would be fun for me.

Not necessarily really. Keep in mind that au ra dimorphism doesn't kick in until puberty either IIRC. So them looking similar pre puberty doesn't necessarily imply anything about what a developed viera male looks like one way or another.

In reality all we want is improved character creator features, more faces, more freedom about choosing eye, mouth, nose shapes, maybe sliders to certain aspects and especially changeable race characteristics as in different ears, beards, horns, body hair...
I think after Viera, it is time to open a Show your support thread to improve the CC and also rework old races...
But for now patience. :/
