Gender locked race?

You do have a blooming fantasy and while I do not critize it, I doubt a male Viera has anything to do with the expansions box artwork. I do believe its the Emet-Selch, the ascian that has yet to be revealed.

What if that Ascian's vessel is a male Viera? The two are not mutually exclusive.

Back in 4.4, when we were trying to guess who the mysterious voice might be, I suggested it might be him - mostly inspired by one of the alleged-leaks saying there would be something involving the Crystal Tower in 5.0, and the voice seemed like it would suit him.

And then we get this poster. Credit goes to Fenral for picking up on the resemblance - I'd glanced over it and assumed the figure was female, then didn't think too much more about it until he pointed it out.

So I'm looking forward to finding out what's going on!

Regardless of who it is, I don't think the robes look particularly Ascian besides the hood - which could be just to keep their identity concealed for the poster.

I can certainly see the similarities with the lips! But nought else, but it would be interesting if they did bring him back! I'd be wondering where he got all of that damage from however! The scars on his face, the strange fur/white markings on the cheek and neck.

It's probably just my imagination going crazy, but I do remember one thing about Viera;-
'Not only do the viera's ears allow them to hear over great distances, they also allow them to listen to the voice of the Green Word. They can put this ability to great use, either to communicate with the world around them, or to summon monsters from other worlds.'

I thought this was interesting because your companions seem to have been 'summoned' into another world. And if this is another world, then this might be another WoD/WoL who has the strength to do so?

Of course this is just fun speculation! I hope we get to see who this person is with another trailer extension or something of the sorts.

I think the noses match as well, and can possibly see his face markings right on the edge of the shadow over his eyes. (Fenral posted a close-up comparison here.)

The colour scheme of their clothing matches - and while it's not guaranteed, that's often kept consistent across costume changes for characters.



The blue-grey stuff across his face and neck is strange. It doesn't look like normal scarring, but some kind of other effect. Getting more into the theoretical here, but from that colour it could be crystal, and perhaps it could be some kind of physically-corrupting influence from the Tower. (I'm pairing this theory with a likely time travel plot where he's come from - or we've gone to - some later point in the timeline, and he was in there for a while.)

It also does seem like it might be intended to conceal his neck tattoos.

And instead of having one of the new races have a spotlight in the important NPC role, it's another Miqote. Like get outta here, we seen plenty of you boys - kind of, since these madlads are supposed to be rarer than Viera testosterone.

Au Ra were present in HW but they were far from "spotlight". Most of the attention Yugiri got was still in ARR patches, and the other noteworthy mentions were limited to the DRK - and if you must, WHM - questlines. Then there's Ulan, who a lot of people probably never even met.

The tattoos are similar for sure, but not much else I would say. Pretty sure that hood is Ascian, so probably just the third Ascian we have yet to meet.

Also he's opposite Solus and the Ascians helped create his empire, so I would say probably linked.

Yeah, it's what has me rather interested in just who he. If it's the Miqote, I'd be pretty interested in why they brought him back - though this would be tied into the Leak from the 'bad leaker' who people are simply dismissing regarding the crystal tower. Hence me hoping/thinking it's a male Viera instead. A male Viera could be an ascian - or rather the host of one.

Yeah, and that actually irritated me! I'm assuming we will see this person very soon, whoever they are - I'm curious why they would have left it so late to reveal him but we have time left.
