Gender locked race?

In which it would be really lame to get the other gender of a race already announced? Even if that is how they do it (which is not how they did au ra) it would just be them trying to fill space with info they've already released. Are we suggesting they've started handling their fanfests the way they handle their segmented patches?

As a small aside, I do feel like they need to cut down on the number of fanfests. Even back during Heavenward and Stormblood's reveals the information came at an almost painful crawl due to them needing to show something flashy for each event to make it relevant.

There will be a male race, but as of right now.. I doubt it will be something that the majority wants.
All I want is another good looking race, with proper run animations and new faces.
Next time please, skip new race thing. Work on current races, refine them, add more face shapes. Most of us crave for new races because current one's still need a bit reworking/new features.

I don't think they will gender lock a race. I think they just want to save the reveal for another panel / fan fest. If they revealed everything there would be no reason to watch the other things.

I'd rather be waiting for a fanfest because I came from the last one with positive reactions, not stressing over whether or not the next one will address the concerns the previous one started in the first place.
The game isn't small enough for them to put off showing 1/2 of a player race. An entire expansion just isn't strapped for discussion material like that.

That and the fact that a second gender of a race should not be news. If they have so little to announce that they had to wait to show the male version then why are we 1) having 3 fanfests and 2) a new expansion?

so much this my hype is conflicted and it could've been fine if they just showed a piece of artwork at least for males it would be silly to genderlock a race either way now after so long :s

That or the males are gonna be the Popori of FFXIV (as in, completely unrelated to the Viera).

They could have said "males are planned, but currently still being worked on" to ease people.

From what I've seen on twitter from JP fandom, they're also Not Happy.
