However, I would not put much weight on this. If the game runs a separate check for inserting correctly gendered nouns etc., it doesn't really matter whether feminine articles/possessives are used or whether Au ra are, for whatever reason, treated as a neutral gender when the race is referred to. It sets no binding precedent on SE, either, to adopt it for future races.
I might be replaying late, but "mon ao ra" is also due to French grammar, not the fact that "ao ra" is treated as neutral in French. As far as I can think, no living species are treated as neutral in French, either they have both a masculine and a feminine words, or they only have one gender word and then we specify the sex by adding the equivalent of male/female if needed (for instance frog only exists has a feminine word and edgehog as a masculine one).
Possessive determiner "ma, ta, sa" (my, your, his/her/its for feminine/female term) becomes "mon, ton, son" in front of a word starting with a vowel (or an h in some cases) for euphonic reason. So, even though "école" (school) is feminine, we say "mon école" (my school) but "ma grande école" (my big school).

My French is getting rusty I suppose. Thanks for the correction. In which case, it's consistent with the rest of the races.

I'm not saying he's homophobic, but you can certainly voice your concerns without bashing a certain group of people.

And yes, gay people can indeed be homophobic. It certainly does tend to be the masc4masc/bara leaning gay guys who insult anything remotely feminine. See: "I'm gay because I like guys not girls" which is an incredibly homophobic remark, which refers to feminine men as girls. As if there's anything wrong with behaving like a girl or that it makes you any less gay and a man.
I wasn't saying he was right or wrong to rag on (your words) people for their preference, I was just saying the word doesn't really meet the action. Referring to men who are feminine like they are women is not a fear of orientation, if anything it would be a reference to gender prejudice but that's a bit limp in that he could love women he just doesn't like to.. love them in that way . And I would really disagree that those two being separate is enough type of prejudice to garner the use of that gender based word (because if that's true then anyone who doesn't like everything is one).

Was not arguing he was being nice or not, was arguing the word seems to lose all meaning if it's used so loosely. Not a very useful word if it just basically means "said or did something that was construed as vaguely mean to someone who just happened to be a certain way". Then any and every action deemed negative must be a phobic action, which I don't agree with.

Also unless we can keep this about rabbits I'm thinking this should be our last row on the topic, at least for me - feels a bit straying (even if it started about feminine rabbits).

The rabbits in the art aren't even particularly feminine so there was no reason for the thread to go this way anywho lol

I'm not so secretly in favour of something like this:

It's not a far cry from the older concept art.

Assuming the lion thing is real and we get both genders, I feel like something sort of like this would be true (at least one of the face options).

I mean can you imagine them making two whole races and make the male viera dimorphic on top of that?

SE: Hi yes, its so hard to make a race
Us: O-okay.. what can we expect?
SE: Two dimorphic races, so basically four races- yes. Please look forward to it.
    O_O

I'll chip in a vote for male viera if they're not added in shadowbringers, even if I die in love with the lion race (hopefully it's a thing lol). In general its been pretty great fun to talk about even if I doubt I'd want to wear bunny ears myself (although if they had an option to lay them down like we've discussed 1,000 pages ago.. maybe I would haha).

While there are some that want the small varied for guys like an inverse Au Ra, for the most part fanart that followed the female confirmation has been close to the art you posted: tall & handsome without tilting too much to kawaii uguu or hyper masc. I LOVE that 1st artwork especially because it shows that they could totally have a matching starter outfit that highlights what makes a male body sexy without it being camp and/or an awkward copy of the female set.

While I don't really expect it at this point, I am hoping that is the case. If these are going to be our final races I'd like them to be complete packages.

Sorry, it's not something i usually do, meant it to kinda convey the intensity of me desires X_X
and I hope they keep the horn if they really do ronso! Maybe even give the females a smaller horn! I really like those kinds of sexual dimorphisms in fantasy races. (see the Charr in GW2, where the males have these huge, crazy horns and tusks, while females have smaller, more functional horns and fangs. suggesting that the males' features are more used for sexy display than any actual defense. It's subtle race lore that isn't just slapped on because it's stereotypical to the gender, but because the designers actually thought about it!)

If you look at the old concept art (the one i've posted probably like 4 times in this thread by now @@;;; ) you'll notice that they are actually shorter! Not as much as the Au Ra of course (because that height difference is hella weird and I hate it) but they're about a half a head shorter than the female in the picture.

That aside, you're taking the definition too literally. Sure the definition implies "fear of gay people", but not every action has to be done out of fear of gay people to be homophobic. Straight people aren't fearful of gay people, it's quite the other way around. It's about said "dislike" and hatred. A dislike of a certain type of gay men is homophobia, whether you're gay or not. Edit: A preference is saying "I don't prefer feminine men" not "I don't like feminine men". One is much more hostile, especially when compared to homophobia.

Edit: and yes, we probably shouldn't discuss this further for sake of the topic.
