I thought the Ivalice raid fit extremly well in FFXIV.
It worked ok but didn't fit perfectly.
The reason is that they tried to port almost everything from XII and the other Ivalice games.
Too many things at once and it made it feel disconnected from XIV.
Ivalice has a very big lore and a distinct feeling so it kinda didn't mixed perfectly.
Now Nier is a completely different beast with a very different feeling and lore and that's why I'm worried.
I'm happy for those who wanted the Nier crossover for a while but personally I'm very disappointed. I feel like FF14 is becoming fanservice platform. I loved Coils, Crystal Tower and Void Ark, it showed more of the FF14 world and it's history. I think Eorzea has so much more we could explore but instead we keep getting other worlds meshed into it that makes me feel like I'm not playing FF14 anymore.![]()

Agreed. But unfortunately we're currently getting a handpicked fan-service race migrated from another game and smashed into XIV, so I think "Eorzea" is starting to turn into that kind of game... Like, some sort of Smash Bros...
Coil is a different raid type, but the stories of Crystal Tower and Void Ark were... kinda bad. As long-winded as it could get, the story of Return to Ivalice was far more interesting than the previous 24-mans. If going to outside sources means we get higher quality raids, then I'm all for it.
At this point, the crossovers are getting old especially since everyone seems to be using the same titles. SE has been milking the crap out of Nier...Soul Calibur 6, PSO2, Monster Hunter Frontier and now this game? I'm waiting for Yoshi to finally create an original raid again after the whole Omega Raid and Ivalice basically being fanservice.
I wouldn't be surprised if we see Geralt show up as well since he's also been floating around different games recently.
When i look at the 24m raids i look at its story, how it fits into ffxiv and the raids themselves
so for CT raids its story was predictable as it was ff3 last dungeons but they made it fit well in ffxiv it feels connected while being fan service but the raids were not too great LotA had 3 reused boss models CT was too simple on mechanics and WoD was aesthetically bland.
For Void raids its story was unique to ffxiv and it made me want more after each part the raids themselves suffered though Void ark was too water downed compared to the others Dun scath also getting proto ultima as trash mob was disappointing.
For RtI i find that it story is too steeped in fan service it was a great love letter to fans of the Ivalice series of games but i feel for it to fit in ffxiv we needed more side quests to tie the characters in better, the raid themselves were the best series of 24m
TLDR with Yorha raids if they are doing fanservice stuff at least make the raids themselves as good as RtI or better but i want something unique to ffxiv next time at that quality something future ff games may like to take inspiration from
Ivalice felt uncomfortably similar to the source material for me and did little to build on established lore, instead opting to more or less copy-paste lore from FFT/FF XII into the setting with little to no indication of any of it existing prior.Coil is a different raid type, but the stories of Crystal Tower and Void Ark were... kinda bad. As long-winded as it could get, the story of Return to Ivalice was far more interesting than the previous 24-mans. If going to outside sources means we get higher quality raids, then I'm all for it.
I brought up Coil because of the fact that Omega was a similar deal with it also being a very nostalgia-focused raid. It got points for at least giving established characters like Midgarsormr, Cid, and Nero more time in the spotlight, though.

Not looking forward to it at all. I'll still read the storyline and whatnot, but not knowing Nier at all kills it for me. Completely uninterested. To the people that wanted it and/or are looking forward to it, enjoy it and have fun with it as I don't begrudge other players for getting things I don't like, but I just don't care about it.
