Considering how the garb mirrors Minfilia in the Teaser, I'd wonder if it might be the avatar of Zodiark (or perhaps even Elidibus after we beat him back out of Zenos and he has to reform!? mayhaps he can't reform into an exact copy like Solus and Nabriales)
It feels like a lot is being pulled in from XI again. Rak'tika and Il Mheg immediately made me think of Zi'Tah and Al'Taieu respectively.Feeding back into a comment I made in my earlier post about the Warrior of the Crystal, interesting the new pixie beast tribe race are pretty much the pixie beastmen race from FFXI Wings of the Goddess - right down to their Primal (that is, their 'leader' in a way) being Titania! (Titania in FFXI WotG was the faeries' leader and an npc fighter who would occasionally appear as allies in Campaign Battles). This is an interesting revelation.... very interesting indeed...
Alphinaud and Alisaie seem to have new costumes.Renders from the extended teaser + key art are up on the press site.

The new masked character has an unusual design.
I noticed that too. Their cheek is definitely something strange, though their neck looks like it could be just a decorative collar. They are the same colour though, so it might be the same thing.
Their right arm, neck, and face make me think of Raen scales. I assume it's Elidibus, but it's an interesting coincidence.
I wonder if they're going to join the other Scions and switch Jobs as well.
My first impression was that this is an Au Ra, with a custom scale pattern. However, there's no horns poking out the side of the hood, so I was slightly confused.I noticed that too. Tataru has been hard at work
Yeah, it's odd.
Like, the neck looks like Au Ra scales with the facial marking being an extension of that.
But the lack of horns debunks that. Also, the strange purple markings on the arms suggests that it might be more than just facial/neck markings and that whatever the stuff on the face is, is the same as what's on the arms.
Also to note, the knuckles on the left hand look like they have jagged edges, making it seem like whatever this is, wasn't designed (I.e. Cosmetic) at least in its entirety. Kind of looks as though they lost the skin on their knuckles and this purple stuff was underneath.
Even more so with the right arm looking more vein like in how it covers what little we can see of the arm.
Whatever the case, it seems that this is an entirely new character and it will be interesting to see how they show up in the story.
Perhaps they're the person who's voice has been calling out to us and the other Scions?
I forget if he was also in the past with her adoptive mother, the singer/dancer who felt partly responsible for her father's death, or just crept into Minfilia's memories as we did (awkwardly noticing each other when fellow... voyeurs, so to speak... in her childhood events). If I recall correctly, though, he was physically there.Something I was wondering: does Thancred only know her as "Minfilia", or should he be calling her "Ascilia"?
Based on possibly very inaccurate impressions of how the characters usually speak, Matoy'shtola sounds more like Y'shtola in her speech patterns, as opposed to the more crochety Matoya. But Urianger sounds pretty serious when he calls her "Master Matoya", as opposed to some (uncharacteristic) snark about how Y'shtola is becoming as crochety as her old teacher.
It may also be that there's something more to the name Ascilia chose for herself than just to make a new name for herself, or he doesn't consider this new Child of Light as an entirely new entity from the Minfilia/Ascilia he knows, and that's why he keeps to that name.
I mean, just the name Ascilia seems faintly telling of something or other, given the Ascians...
I'm gonna guess that the masked person is Fordola, and their body somehow got wrecked by the Resonance.
