My only disappointment so far is the Viera. I'm only a fan of outright fan service when it involves equality - and the focus on the sex appeal of bunny women makes me uncomfortable. It feels pretty exploitative and a little tone deaf given that a lot of the people asking for Viera in the first place did so because they wanted to play male Viera.

I also dislike how this is the second playable race where the males are effectively non-existent throughout the game world. There's only a handful of male Miqo'te compared to the amount of female Miqo'te and male Viera are described as even more reclusive.

ummm....viera is not a new race cuz they've been there way before XIV was a thing and considering the suggestive things u can dress a female miqo'te in the game already I dunno why it took vierra for u to call the devs tonedeaf

Also according to the lore of Ivalice(which is a series of FF games that came out way before XIV) is a female only race that lives away from civilization(think the Amazonesses) and they literally copied that as it is for the Ivalice Raids in XIV when Fran from FFXII was included

You're talking to a huge fan of the Ivalice games. I'm well aware that they're not a new race - though there was no necessity for the restrictive elements to be fully embraced when tweaking them to fit FFXIV. I also stated that I have no issue with outright fan service when it involves equality so I'm going to brush aside the quip about female Miqo'te since it's irrelevant to my previous points.

It's a bitter disappointment considering how often male characters are overlooked in this game, but that particular discussion is better suited to the General Discussion board rather than here.
