Is a tank relic this expansion even worth it?

With the random nature of stat points with the SB relic making it so the chances of getting a weapon that's actually good is so low, it seems like making a relic this expansion is going to be a lot of work to get a weapon that's gonna end up barely better than a scavean weapon, let alone an alphascape weapon.

But the reason i'm focusing specifically on tanks is because the most desired meld for them these days is direct hit, which we can't even get on the relic and we can't meld the relic to boot. So there is no way the tank relic will ever compete with any of the alternatives which can be melded with direct hit.

So is the stormblood relic just not worth doing? Is it purely a glamour piece? With ARR and HW by the end of the expansion the relic was BiS taking over even the savage raid tier weapons, but that doesn't seem like it can possibly be the case with the SB relic unless the final stage drastically fixes all the random stat elements and brings back the extra meld slots it had in the anemos stage.

I don't see why it even matters to have the best weapon for 3 month before it becomes utter trash 10h into the expansion.
Like.... There is no new ultimate, os12 doesn't require you to have a 410ilv (worth of stat) weapon.
Why do you bother with the weapon stats?

I've personally always considered relic as shiny glamour, nothing more.

Does not matter if it's worth or not, you need to have a relic weapon in your inventory for your main job, it's a status XD.

No relic weapon in the game has ever really been worth it other than for glamour. Nothing different on that point with the latest one.

Relics are usually BiS by the end of the expansion, I imagine they will bring back the 5 meld slots at the end so we can get crazy stats like 1000 crit w/e det and then meld an extra 200 direct hit on top of that.

If not then, as PLD at least, you’re better off with an alphascape weapon if you can, unless you get really lucky on those stat allocations.

As for if it’s worth it to get a BiS weapon 3 months before it becomes obsolete, that’s kinda slippery slope territory to say it’s not. I mean, why bother getting gear at all until they release the final expansion of the game then get the BiS relic for that? Everything that comes before the best weapon when the servers shut down will be obsolete right?

Its really just for glamour.

However apparently its a wide known thing that if you dont have a relic for your main job going into the newest expansion you either.

A: The newly released job is your new main

B: You were too lazy to do the relic from last expansion and are an outcast.

Yes and also past Relics had use between patches also. Stormblood the Relic was late and pretty much just glam from the start

I'm not even doing the relic on my main job as I find the AST globe to be really not good looking XD (who knows how it will look for the last step)

Anyway, if the globe end up with a nice look i'll simply farm it for 5 days straight x_x
