Parley is fine other than it takes forever. Speed up the interface and everything will be just dandy.

On the other hand... that Rank 30 Carpenter quest where you have to convince the children to come out of hiding before the Guildmaster returns made no sense at all:

Kid: "I won't tell you where the other kids are hiding"
Me: "Fine then, we will debate about the Carpenter's Guild, wooden planks, rusted saws and Gridania until you agree to tell me."
    (PARLEY)
Kid: "You have bested me in the art of debate. I have seen the light and I now understand the value of proper nail-driving. I will tell you where the other kids are hiding."

    What. The. HECK?

    But you already can!
They called it /random, though it's basically the same thing. Only faster.

I see why it was implemented to help crafters progress through the main scenario.

But realistically are you going to fight the final boss at parley and they give up after being beaten at a game?

Look at the beast tribes. They killed people, they've attempted to kill people, vastly largerly skilled in magic, they can summon primals... yet a simple game of chance makes them reveal everything?

Mr. level 36 casting amamja'aal gives up after losing a card game to a level 20ish Thaumaturge back when fighting a mob 3 levels above you would wreck you.
Well, you have to remember, that in the in-game reality, it's not a "card game". It's the cut and thrust of a discussion. When you win the game of Parley, what you have done in-game is successfully used your mastery of conversation to convince him not to do it.

No, you think that because even the best AI is such an idiot that just picking the highest possible value is enough to beat it. Every time you you pull out tiles, the board rearranges. While you can't predict what new tiles will come in at the bottom, the rest of the rearrangement is completely predictable. Against a decent opponent, you have to calculate what moves you're going to be giving him. But that goes unnoticed at present because the AI is too dumb to require such strategy on your part.

I don't think that can have any significant impact, especially not with a board of such a small scale. I usually consider how the pieces will move regardless of how weak the AI is - just to keep my mind busy and prevent the loss of brain cells. But half of the time, the new pieces that come in provide better opportunities than before anyway. And you also have to consider that by choosing something other than the highest value, you're gaining less points yourself.

If they would increase the total number of tiles and display beforehand which new pieces come in though... Now that could be more fun, provided the AI can keep up.

I think it's kinda fun. Maybe they should remove random parley. I never seems to have the items they want to place on bet. But it's fun when you have to do it for quests.

You have nothing better to do then complain about something you only do a handful of times in game?.. Keep it, parley didn't do anything to you!

Right and you have nothing better to do than defend parley here. I was "forced" to play Parlame to progress my level, thats what it did to me :P
