Square Enix has no intention to actually enforce though.

During the first ultimate world race, Square Enix themselves linked Twitch streams of world first proggers, each and every one of those had a visible DPS meter on their stream and again > Square Enix linked those streams.

The only times they are willing to take action is if you actively (in game I add) harass other players with it.

But just using it and uploading your parses they basically say go ahead.

If enough people are upset by this then things might Change.

Look at this:
You sign a contract to be able to play the game you paid for which States that No third party program is allowed. You swear to adhere to the agreement or risk action taken against you.

Now you find out that you're actually included in a third party rogram automatically, not affiliated in any way with SE and that if you don't want your data to be on display, you have to go out of your way to ask them to do it.

The numbers you produce are still being accumilated by the third program though. So you're still involved.

The people who made you sign the agreement with the understandig that third party programs are illegal? They don't care.

I would like to see this sorted out somehow because the potential for misuse here is huge!

If anything goes down here it's the individual users who's gonna skuffer punishment. Maybe Even the people who did opt out or people who never even heard about it because due to the way the program just takes from everyone in a group, there Will be logs on them as well! I directly making them third party users.

There is No player guard here and there should be. Even if SE doesnt want to deal with it.

It has been known to the majority of public since Heavensward you have to opt out manually of FFlogs. These arguments have been going on for at least three years.

Parsers exists, so DPS could also be kicked for their wrong-doings.

Nothing is worse than to see DPS doing less than a tank or healer.

I believe dps meter and healer meter leave little room for player work on improve themselves on they own time. if in fact this tool is 3rd party then site should be taken down if people be kick for low dps then the site should be taken down

I remember I used hag out on site for ffxiv before the launch of 2.0

You are allowed to kick tank that doesn't know how to tank and a healer that doesn't know how to heal. Why would kicking a DPS that doesn't know how to DPS not be ok?
Of course demanding purple or orange parses for trivial and casual content is bs, but the only times I actually see that in PF descriptions is clearly for meme purposes, no one really does or expects that.

My ex started in HW and she didn't know.

But conceding that, that doesn't Change what I'm saying at all. Its definetly not true that everybody knows about it. The majority? Gonna doubt that unless I'm proven otherwise. Forums are just a fraction of the playerbase. Also you should compare the num er of active parsers to the number of active players, but I Dunno if you can since the program is gathering data from everyone, including the people who doesnt know about it because they were never informed because from the Tos it's unreasonable to expec it to be happening frequently.

While I think the Op is exaggerating, saying that "he is wrong because I saw his logs and are bad" is stupid too. You're invalidating his opinion by looking at his logs... and that what he is complaining for. So you are basically confirming what he is complaining for. Discrimination based on FFlogs.

You can agree or not with him, but don't use FFlogs to decide if his opinion is worth or not.

Who cares if your numbers are up there or not.

If youre not doing Savage or Ultimate, then it doesnt matter if you parse well or not in %99.999 of cases. You may run into the rare enough PF wholl 'check your logs', but that isnt standard practice.

If you are doing Savage or ultimate, then your numbers better be good. If they are, then no problem again. If theyre not, then they wont take you. That's on you because youre not playing your class well and they dont want to spend time with a player who wont be pulling their own weight.

Basically if you dont do harder content, no ones gonna care about your logs. If youre doing harder content, then you better play decently to impress people the people who you want to join up with.

In regards to it breaking the ToS, yeah it does. SE hasnt gone after it. Theyre not a stupid company. They know it exists. If they havent taken action, thats that. Telling them to take action is meaningless because they themselves arent moving on it when they know it exists. Here's the rub: Just because it's in the ToS doesnt mean theyll enforce it. The ToS is just a thing they write out so that IF they want to take action, they have the ability to do so without complications. It is up to them to enforce it however, and they do enforce it selectively. So pointing to the ToS and saying "It's in there! Get rid of FFLogs" is a moot point.

Lastly, if youre arguing that most of the player base doesnt know about FFLogs, then its an even more minor issue then being proposed. Most people arent checking your logs, so no one will care, and chances are if youre applying to a static you already know FFLogs exists and are well aware of what that entails.

FFLogs is fine. It's a tool for people who want it, and it's not being widely used as a means to sneer at players. Some small amount of people do. They exist, but again, theyre a minority of the player base and are likely the type of players you wont want to play with anyways.

It's not your data though? Parsers collect information from the battle log which is available to anyone who was in said encounter.
