Keyword "Personal data". If your character's data are yours, then SE would be in big trouble for sharing that on the Lodestone without your consent, since everyone can see your character image, classes, FC, name, server, mounts, minions, achievements etc. without your consent. But in reality it's not. It's SE's property. And the logs generated are theirs and they are the ones who decided it is OK for others to have those logs public to those in your party. So your consent has no effect on it. In fact, FFlogs could very much unhide all hidden logs if they wanted to.

Actually this is quite a case I wonder about too, but I bet with you that ff14 does have long law texts we agree on that, which protects them technically in order to use the data on the website since it is needed for the Servcie they provide to you but I doubt that ff14 does have a contract with fflogs. As said the EU Law in that matter is quite a mess, I just wanted to point out that a case with these would have better chances than the copyright thing.

For example we must make a data share agreement with every single company that get data from us that they can use, even as they are encoded.

Amusing sidenote to that topic and how that law is messed up:
Even just haveing a video on your website that you start to watch could already lead to a law case. Since you technically must send in that moment Data to the Videoplayer, in that case your IP and you as a user would have to agree that the data is used for that.

I only wonder if character names and charackters means only the NPCs or players one. I mean else you could add really bad names and if someone is annoyed by it you could point out at Square. But it is unlikly that some borderline lawer would dare to sue Square enix, fflogs on the other hand not seem to be that rich and would propably not have money for a law case. Anyway as said I just speak form a theoretical case that someone could use that argument thanks to that law chaos.

It does include character names lol. That's why they're also covering themselves by stating you're not allowed to use names or IPs that are SE's property or any other 3rd party, and that they have the right to delete/change it if needed with or without notice.

This site breeds toxic communities like The Balance and elitists mindsets. It also uses job and ability symbols ripped from the game files and profits on SE copyrighted content through advertising. It's also constantly used to name and shame players. Use of the website also requires use of third party tools that break the games ToS. What's worst is that one must make an account and forcibly opt out in order to be excluded from the site.

SE, please take advantage of the site owner's legal liability and force him to immediately take down his toxic website. It is an affront to everything stood for in this great community

Exactly this. Sorry for the caps but I was just having a flashback to my customer service days where people would keep trying to throw technicalities at the place I worked despite patiently explaining many times over from A to Z why their request was an absolute no.

They own the label you give your character. You give it a fake name? Own it. A real one? Own it. You call it a can of tuna? Own it. Give it some numbers? Own it.

Also, I'm making this the last response to you. You wanna throw another technicality? Call SE's customer service directly. Maybe they can answer that better than I can.
