Tales of the Traders - Share Knowledge between Crafters and Gatherers

Just thinking of starting a thread here exclusively for traders - new and veterans can discuss about everything relating to crafting, gathering, market board, etc.

Is there anyone who has finished any "I made that VI" achievements? If you do, please share your experience with us!

There are three different forums covering these topics. One for markets and retainers, one for disciples of the hand, and one for disciples of the land. Makes more sense to discuss these things in those sections.

I only craft items for myself. There is to many that sell items on market board so low that not worth your time crafting and selling them. Main thing they need to fix is under cutting part. They need to set price where can't sell item for less than that. If remember right guild wars 2 has system like that.

Got all of the "I made that VI" achievements as of a few days ago... Very, very painful experience, mingled with a lot of gil rinsing.. Thanks ALC/GSM

Black Desert Online did this - they put a set price range on everything - you couldn't go above or below anything in the range they set for every item in the game. Although I think they did it mostly to block potential paths for the gray market to make money off their game through RMT than anything else.

I can't motivate myself to bother with "I Made that VI". It's nice they added the achievements, but considering the reward is just the scrip tools with a bland glow there isn't a point. The golden tools in HW were decent, but I'd love to see some new fancy models that had a glow even when sheathed.

As it is, if your crafter is just standing around with the achievement tools, anyone glancing at you would assume you were an amateur budget crafter using scrip gear. That's not a particularly enticing "reward".

If you want to make gil, try to look for 'untapped markets'. If there's a huge stack of items waiting to sell and they barely sell 1-2 a day (or even worse, a week) take that as a hint to look elsewhere. Low level furniture, specialty foods/potions, leveling gear, base mats, glamours, and some desynth items can really turn a huge profit. As another tip, if you're selling materials that ONLY drop from raids/dungeons/treasure hunts (like orchestrion rolls, glamour mats, etc) don't be afraid to let some items sit on your retainer for a while. My saying is, 'if it sold at that price before, it'll sell at that price again'. (Except when they sometimes make the material available much easier in the next patch)
