I currently use a dualshock4 controller. I've tried xbox one and logitech controllers as well. I've tried them wired and wireless. The problem exists regardless of which controller as has been reported by others. I've snooped around for solutions and tried things from disabling specific devices in device manager to changing security permissions for downloading drivers. I've updated the drivers for every device used by my computer. The reports I find about this problem go back as far as 2015. And I've read reports about people quitting the game due to the frustration this problem causes. There is something in ffxiv that causes the game to disconnect a controller/game pad whenever the device manager does a refresh. Then it will reconnect once device manager stabilizes. There's really nothing more I can do from this end. No other game I've played has shown this kind of activity. I've tried connecting the controller though another program like DS4Windows and this makes no difference. As long as ffxiv reacts to a device manager refresh in this way, there is nothing myself as a player can do but sit and wait for my controller to start working again. Which if you play any sort of difficult content equals failure. Very frustrating.. I can send you links to other reports of this problem and the suggested "fixes" if you like. What would be nice to see is a bug fix so that those of us seeing this can play the game without interruption.
