    On Screen Combo Prompts?

Are there any plans for something like this?
It's not that important, but it really would help in the "flow" of battle to give the Spacebar the ability to quickly trigger consecutive combo actions when it is available, rather than spamming the said Action until the animation for the previous one is done.

Just a small "Press Space to use <weaponskill>!" on screen would be awesome.

    Thanks!

You have to think about PS3 players too. Gamepad has all the buttons used already, i don't see them squeezing it in via double/triple button press or something.

I never understood people spamming the button btw, it doesn't make the skill execute any faster. There is also that queue function you can turn on.

No thanks. There are moves that combo into multiple things, so it would have to be more complex than just a single button press. Once you realize that, it doesn't make it worth it.

Not sure about the space bar thing, because that sort of limited the combo to one line direction.
But I think there could be more excitement, or some dynamic way of displaying the sequencing skill/spells on the action bar or interface for the building up of visual impact while providing a simpler way to notice and click on them...

Regarding PS3.... I dont know, PS3 controls are very linear and makes the interface very inefficient and deep (long menu layers to reach destination). It is just simply very frustrating for a pc gamer to have a mouse and not able to utilize it all over the screen. Not to say we should disregard the future PS3 players but I dont think we should limit ourselves to possibilities because of that.

The PS3/gamepad users will have it's own UI so the keyboard users can have their point&click menus. But while the UI is different, playing with a gamepad should not put you at a disadvantage.

SE will have to balance that now that they decided to release for the PS3 after all.

The gamepad design is what makes it a disadvantage to use, not the UI's that will be available. There really isn't any way to make thumb-rolling as dexterous as wrist/hand movement, it's all in how we're built.

As far as quick-prompts for combos, I would like to see them implemented. Spacebar may not be the best method due to the combo structure, but they could easily create some sort of confirmation prompt to chain combos more conveniently.

Agreed, but you can still alleviate it by some degree by using handy skill placement on your bar.

One way would be to make a separate UI for combat, making it possible to map skills to gamepad keys directly. Or make spacebar advance a combo for kb users and displaying a combo prompt for gamepad user (press confirm to advance-type of interface)

But if you ask me, they should stop fooling around with this bastard hybrid of a battle system and go for an action one. There is nothing classic left in it anyway.

Yes that's true, it can alleviate it. But gamepad users will always be at a disadvantage unless they can streamline their UI, and with SE's history for UI design, I just don't see them pulling it off.

Essentialy, PS3 users can already expect to be at a disadvantage though, as Yoshi is in favor of community add-on development. And guess who's gonna get all those add-ons first?

I really hope they do well with the UI in 2.0. I know a few people who won't even touch the game until it receives an overhaul.
