Something I noticed about a certain machinist in Orbonne

This is completely irrevelant to anything, but just found it interesting...

    Fighting Ultima

    Cutscene afterwards

Mustadio's hairstyle changes and he gains facial scars. I haven't managed to take a screenshot of his model after he changes back from his Lucavi version, but I'm guessing it's the same as the one in Ultima.

I find it strange as he doesn't have facial scars in Tactics, and he appears to have the exact same scars as Orran does in the flashback cutscene. Maybe just a hiccup? Who knows.

It isn't the first time something similar has happened, with 'battle' and 'cutscene' versions of NPCs not matching.

I noticed a while ago in the Lv50 MCH battle instance that Stephanivien doesn't have the correct hairstyle. (Pic - normally he has the ponytail style unlocked at Gold Saucer.) I think it's been consistently wrong throughout the few battles afterwards as well.

Clearly seems to be an issue affecting blond machinists...?

But seriously, I think there might be a disconnect somewhere between the people programming battles and overworld/cutscenes. Perhaps at some point the characters got redesigned and the normal NPCs got updated, but the battle programmers didn't get told to change their version?

It's also possible we're seeing two different images of him - it seems to be borrowing from the storyline that when Ramza went to take down Ultima, most of his followers fell with him. Mustadio, Agrias, and Orlandeau might all be shown as their "ideal" appearance while fighting alongside you against Ultima, the ideal image of themselves from the past, while the post-dungeon cutscene is the aftermath of the fight, the battlescarred version that shows the results of their labors.

Looking closely at these 2 images, id say that its probly the same hairstyle. Both seem to have distinct cornrows. The first is shown from an angle that highlights them being tied off at the back, while the second is more head-on so the back cant be seen. The scar under the left eye(the only one visible) appears to be missing in the first shot, but the magical energy he is outputting could be obscuring it.

*chuckles* oh my gosh no. My favorite part if any game is the character creation screen... the first hairstyle is the sides shaved, top in a folded pony. 2nd picture is the cornrows with the thin leather band across the forehead. .

I agree, they're definitely different styles. I was going to post the same thing but Merryl beat me to it.
