It wasn't until people protested that, they changed their minds. And I think that's when they started calling it "Eternal bond". There was even some interview Yoshi-P was asked something about marriage, and he said something like "please don't call it that, its an eternal bond" like he really didn't want anyone to think there is gay marriage in the game.

ty been a long time since that interview and i can't recall it i am glad to be part of a community that outright said to put same sex EB in and grateful to the devs to actually put it in knowing it might stir up controversy.

TY for that. As I said I wasn't here for that, I just know of a very angry thread from a good while ago, that was along the lines of "what next, they'll let us marry our chocobos?"
