Even in cities, this function wouldn't be necessary if the aetherytes were placed a little more strategically.

Like Idyllshire, why is there an aetheryte on the left side of the city map where there's no points of interest whatsoever, but nothing right down the bottom by all the crafter/gatherer stalls?
Why not place an aetheryte in Gridania for the airship landing, or the Archers guild? I know it's not a particularly long way to walk, but then you have others really close together like Arcanists guild and Hawkers Alley in Limsa.

Dunno because if you want to go fully inclusive you have players that like to walk the cities and appreciate the different cities spaces did refer to big cities such LL.
