When I had gone back years ago after my long break, I was so damn lost. Couldn't even open the main menu. lol. Once you familiarize yourself with how it all works it's all fine and dandy, but I don't know if I would personally say that the controls are "good".
I got a lot of people asking questions when they saw some of the in game videos I posted from FFXI because I didn't use macros on anything and rapidly executed everything people would macro through manual input via the menu system. Macros were reserved for shenanigans and that's pretty much carried over to here too lol.

I would honestly laugh at this post later if FFXI's Vana'diel ended up being one of the worlds in XIV as we did have events tying that world to our source world...

Shantotto and Lightning (though I prefer to forget about Lightning) visited us during the FF XI and FF XIII collabs in ARR so I certainly wouldn't rule it out. Seems like most of the FF worlds are connected in some way. Not enough to cause some serious confusion but enough to allow collabs or promotions to happen.

Meant to reply to this post earlier but Eureka is direct feedback and suggest from posters over the years. It wasn't just some random thing about putting FFXI system into the game just because. As for BLU, not sure how that is anything like FFXI's version.

It's not just two, just about all the extra content beyond MSQ and regular dungeons/raids has required forming your own party or nothing. Starting with Maps, Diadem is inaccessable now without a party - then POTD, HOH, all 3 areas of Eureka (and no doubt the fourth) and now BLU - And that's on top of the things casuals don't usually expect to do that requires statics like top-level raids/exes. That's a ridiculous amount of content to be locked out of regularly. You spend more time online trying to heard cats than playing the game.

It took an uproar from the community for you to even consider nerfing Pagos and not repeating it. Please. Just start actually communicating with the player base and actually open a dialogue.
Aside from your misconception on what FFXI was like, you have asked here for an open dialogue with a dev team primarily based in Japan, who puts Japanese players far before any other country. Simply put, this will not happen. Now, on to said misconception, these two pieces of content are no where near as in depth, detailed, punishing, or knowledge intensive as even early end game in FFXI. Just because you believe that these two things are a direct reincarnation does not make that accurate, nor does it invalidate either of these pieces of content. On top of that, the ludicrous argument "Just go play FFXI then" whenever someone makes any suggestion with the slightest bit of a comparison between the two is woefully tired and stupid to boot, as FFXI does not exist currently as it did when the majority of the players who loved it played. SE already saw to it that they wanted to ruin the game back during Abyssea, and it has never recovered to a point where I would consider it the same game.

I hope this is sarcasm, I truly do because the sheer amount of ignorance in this trio of sentences is completely mind boggling.

First off, Even in FFXI they gave him a time limit to despawn eventually out of concern/backlash for player health. Second off, despite calling it endgame content, there is no chance what-so-ever of this fight being anything but a nod to the difficulty of the original NM. And finally, they have already said, unless you literally don't pay attention to any interviews, that the time limit on the dungeon section of Eureka will be much lower, making an 18 hour fight impossible.

Have you ever played 1.0? or even XI for that matter? Those 2 games are nothing alike. FFXIV 1.0 was the first attempt at making an MMO more action based when compared to its XI counterpart. The reason 1.0 failed was because they put too much focus in areas that didn't need it and put too little in things such as endgame. The combat was stiff and the only thing to do at level 50 before the 1.23a/b and Legacy Server merge was Ifrit, there really wasn't anything to do or to strive for. It would be like taking our current FFXIV and saying Endgame is literally just ADS from Coils, nothing else and nothing more. The only thing FFXI and FFXIV 1.0 have in common in the long run is some reused assets for enemies and the updated models of XI's base races with Galka's losing their tails on the change into Roegadyn.

Do we see the correlation here? 1.0 was awful, garbage, it died. Was so bad it literally got shut down. 1.0 is FFXIV's attempt at FFXI, whether or not it is or isn't like FFXI, they need to stop bringing in any content from that or taking ideas from it, because clearly it has killed the game once and I doubt it couldn't do it again. It's clear people like 2.0 (FFXIV) more than 1.0 (FFXI). This is SE trying to recreate FFXI and it's awful, leave FFXI out of FFXIV. Doesn't matter if it's like FFXI or not, this is SE trying to make it into FFXI so STOP trying to be FFXI.
The reason Eureka failed was because they took the info from Diadem and nerfed the FATE pop, which NMs essentially are, and put more emphasis on killing the trash in a way that conflicted with the fast paced combat of the game. They then doubled down on this in Pagos with Yoshida claiming that players loved the gameplay more than the reward, something that should have been a red flag to many about what kind of feedback its getting. Eureka compared to XI is like comparing a 2 year old's recreation of the Mona Lisa and calling it exactly the original. Sure there are some concepts from XI but dear god is it nowhere near the XI experience.

I really need to ask at this point where you're even getting your info on 1.0 from. In what way was 1.0 like FFXI? Outside of more emphasis on the open world due to the lack of instanced content how was FFXIV 1.0 in any way at all related to FFXI? Is this from person experience or second hand knowledge? I ask this as someone who has played XI and XIV 1.0.

FFXI’s Bard was way cooler than XIV’s, just saying.

I honestly don’t understand how you could come to the conclusion that they’re trying to make this game like XI in any form.

Literally every FF game has countless references and nods to other titles in the series, which is as far as the devs will go. XIV and XI are polar opposites in terms of battle system, content design, job design, etc.

XIV’s content will always always be much lower on the difficulty scale, less complex, more user friendly and heavily reliant on daily/weekly lockouts to keep subs. This will never change.
