While I would agree that Eureka isn't the full-blown FFXI experience, it's a nice reminder of why that gaming experience shouldn't exist in this day and age.

Everyone HATED Eureka hardcore when they tried to kill fate trains (AKA, like 1.0). People demanded it to be nerfed and back to fate trains (like 2.0).
Do we see the correlation here? 1.0 was awful, garbage, it died. Was so bad it literally got shut down. 1.0 is FFXIV's attempt at FFXI, whether or not it is or isn't like FFXI, they need to stop bringing in any content from that or taking ideas from it, because clearly it has killed the game once and I doubt it couldn't do it again. It's clear people like 2.0 (FFXIV) more than 1.0 (FFXI). This is SE trying to recreate FFXI and it's awful, leave FFXI out of FFXIV. Doesn't matter if it's like FFXI or not, this is SE trying to make it into FFXI so STOP trying to be FFXI.




It really wasn't though. And if you honestly think that then you in all likelihood didn't play one or the other (or both). Whenever I see people parroting this misinformation it just comes off as baseless bias.
The only influence XI arguably had over on XIV 1.0 is that the devs working on 1.0 had it in their head that because they've made one MMORPG, they could do no wrong. That and the playable races. The similarities basically stopped there.
I'd really like to see specifics of what elements from XI are ruining Eureka for everyone. I've lost count of the number of times that people will say that Eureka is FFXI in a nutshell, but I never see it fleshed out more than that. I get that Xi hate is big around these parts, but it seems there may be a lot of misplaced blame. Eureka isn't really like 1.0 at all, 1.0 had guildleves from the start as repeatable quests you could do to level, there's no repeatable quests in Eureka. People saying eureka is not like FFXI they are 100% right, because FFXI was trash due to the trash combat and eureka in ffxiv is pretty decent comparing to that.
I played this old game few times, its an mmorpg with the combat of a turn base game, awful as hell, idk why people find it nicer, zerg rush for fates is more exciting than that.

Don't blame FFXI for Eureka or Blue Mage in FFXIV. Blue Mage in FFXI was a full job. FFXI was more than JUST grind like Eureka. If anything, both of those features could be improved by being more like their FFXI counterparts.Just stop. I'm sorry for this salty rant thread but I feel that this needs to be said... again. If subscribers wanted to play ffxi content They would play ffxiBoth of these things try to recreate the experience of a completely different game. Don't get me wrong. I loved Stormblood and I'm hyped for Shadowbringers. But this ffxi stuff needs to stop! Two expansions now you've tried to do this with literally no success. The players don't want it and you're not listening.

It took an uproar from the community for you to even consider nerfing Pagos and not repeating it. Please. Just start actually communicating with the player base and actually open a dialogue.

I would like them to port more of FFXI. Assuming that Eureka and Blue Mage are actually trying to be like FFXI then the devs need to get better at recognizing what was good about FFXI and try copying that instead. Eureka is most like the leveling grind of FFXI which was always the worst thing about the game, if they wanted to have big FFXI NM fights they should have copy and pasted the treasure map code instead of the FATE code, to have NMs spawned by trading pop items to ??? points. They should have looked at actual content from FFXI that people enjoyed like Besieged or Assault/Salvage and tried to recreate those experiences. And FFXIV's Blue Mage is extremely watered down compared to FFXI. In FFXI it seemed like almost every mob type had at least one spell to teach you and even spells that did similar things might at least give you different stats/traits, in XIV you can barely learn anything and most of it is useless or does comparable damage to your starter spell.
And I'm going to continue holding my breath for more FFXI gear, and also a Distant Worlds orchestrion roll.
