wouldn't the Tengu and ixali beastmen count as ffxiv avian races
Tengu:

Are the Tengu a beast tribe? If not would be a nice excuse to introduce a bird type race.Been wanting an avian race since Heavensward realeased!
Her anatomy is very 'off'... and I'm not meaning the half-bird parts.JP mmorpgs seem to not bother with full on "furry" races (I was hoping for Ronso be the new race over bunnies cause I'd like to see at least one beast-like PC) for some reason.
If they did you're more likely to get Papi from Monster Musume

Not that the feathers make all that much sense either - was initially thinking they'd done it relatively accurate by putting feathers on her hands rather than having "feather fingers" (eg. like the Rito holding the bow), but then I realised the whole wing seems to be attached to her hand and not the rest of her arm, so... points deducted again. The whole thing is off.
idk for sure as the lore book 2 page 245 doesn't explicitly say they are a beastman race yet they have been lumped within the beastman/primal section of the book so i am assuming they are as page 244 is the Lupin confirmed beastman race by Triple Triad card and followed by bangaa and seeq the latter confirmed beastman race within the book. Though same book also states Padjal should be classed as a beastman race so who knows until they confirm it 100%
Er, what? The Padjal are essentially Hyuran. Why would they be classified as a beast tribe?
I don't have the second lore book yet. What does it actually say?
Lore book 2 page 250:
The Padjal
"There are none in Eorzea so foolish as to suggest the wise Padjali leaders of Gridania might be of inferior stock.Yet if we are to compartmentalize the realm's denizens based on whether they are to be counted amongst the five races, then where does that leave the Seedseers? Their fawn-like horns, their ceased aging, their ability to commune with the elementals, are all traits more commonly associated with those peoples dishonored with the 'beastman' designation."
It hints that they should be classed as beastman without stating it due to the lore books always taken from the perspective of a living being on Hydalen and calling leaders of a nation beastmen would just be disastrous for one's health
It's in the part of the book that asks what really separates beastmen from the non beastmen and uses the Padjal as an example. I think the Tengu are only classed that way due to the fact that no one has seen them without a mask on either real of illusion.
Don't forget about the Vanu Vanu! While we can kinda glamour as them (only male Roegadyn look closest to the real ones thanks to their box shape), the body is a little off putting when you look at the back...
