    Is Stormblood worth buying early?

Hey guys, I'm a recent WoW Refugee, and I recently purchased the starter version of FF because I couldn't tell if there were any benefits of buying Stormblood while I'm still >50. So my question is, should I wait until I finish ARR before buying storm blood, or are there actually any benefits now?
    Thanks in advance

You won't be able to access any of the expansion content until you've completed the main story quests (which require you to reach level 50 in order to complete), so there's no benefit to buying it in advance since you can't access any of the newer jobs and/or zones without progressing through the main story.

If the next expansion releases (Shadowbringers - Summer 2019) before you're done with the base game, then you might actually save some money, since buying the latest expansion also seems to come with all the previous expansions as well. With that said, it probably won't take you that long unless you're playing VERY casually.

I want to add bit on Raldo's msg.

Depends on you what ever your fine playing savage raids later on or not (patch 5.05). If your planning just buying the latest expansion and u dont care week 1 progress (or many weeks later) than just buy the expansion when they let u pre-order the game (which is next month). If its going be the same as with pre-orders on stormsblood than you will get the keys for the expansion which u need too redeem on mogstation. Though i dont know you will be able access heavensward and stormblood.

Si i recommend to wait for the pre-orders to go off, if your interested playing ff14. Hope this helps. And if can't level up beyond lvl 50 just ask the support team what ever they can help u proceed with leveling and on main story questing!

And final thing: if your planing to buy it on steam you can only buy it on steam and vice versa, just making sure u won't get in to the same issue as lot of other ppl. lol

First of all let me note that buying Stormblood also will include the Heavensward expansion.

There is no real point in buying Stormblood before you reach level 50.
But once you do reach level 50 there is one benefit of owning Stormblood - you can then pick up and play the Samurai or Red Mage jobs. This no matter where you are in the MSQ.
Another benefit (or downside depending on how you view it) is that you will be able to continue gaining Exp and levels after reaching level 50. Without any expansion registered you will stop gaining Exp once you reach level 50.

There is one potential benefit to buying Stormblood as early as possible that no one has mentioned. If you want to make or fantasia a character into the Au'Ra race, you need the expansions. So getting them early gets you access to the extra race earlier. Buying the expansions when or shortly before you hit level 50 allows you to smoothly continue the story without losing any potential exp youve earned(with the bonus of 2 extra classes opening up at 50 and a 3rd as soon as you finish the 2.0 story, the other three waiting til you hit 3.0 in story). The option to wait for the 3rd expansion(Shadowbringers) which will probly include both the previous ones depends entirely on how quickly you level and complete the base story. If memory serves, the people who did this 2 years ago didnt get access to previous expansions until the current one went live so that might be too long for you to want to wait.

While that is true for the 3.0 jobs (AST, MCH and DRK), you can access the jobs of Samurai and Red Mage as long as you bought the expansion and finished the praetorium, as far as I can remember.

    This.

RDM and SAM don't require story progress*.

*as long as you started in Ul'dah or Gridania.
If you started in Limsa Lominsa, you must advance the story to the Envoy quest, so that you can leave Vyllbrand and visit Ul'dah on the mainland. This is Lv15 MSQ. I mention this, even though it seems trivial, because people who start in Limsa Lominsa and buy job boosts to get a job to 60 will still have to advance the story to The Envoy so they can leave the island.

after looking it up, RDM and SAM do not require MSQ advancement, but they DO require to have a lv50 disciple of war/magic job.
