I kinda expect them to be like.. Advanced (wireless) magitek transporters require Aetheryte cores to function, where the magitek mainly functions to perform the teleportation cast for those unable to use magic themselves.
i honestly expect some sort of allagan technology since they seem to love reverse engineering that stuff.
Of course we don't even know where we are going because they have yet to reveal that location maybe it is garlemald or maybe not now it could be time travel. But no instead of revealing it we have to wait till at least march for any juicy details of the expansion
We know the Allagans could manufacture aetherites instead of having to use "natural" ones like it currently done. So I wouldn't be all that surprised to see Allagan-style aetherites in Garlemald.
One thing to keep in mind is that 1/3 of the "native" Garlean population isn't even racially Garlean. So I could see the Garleans always having aetherites for the use of the non-Garleans that have always lived in Garlemald.
My personal guess is that it'll be some sort of Magitek Equivalent that just so happens to be functionally identical for the purposes of gameplay. We do know they have Magitek transporters, and they'll probably have some lampshade about it.
I suppose when we get there we'll have a different way of transportation maybe...
