    Aetherite transporter in Garlemald

While redoing the MSQ I noticed that the Aetherite transporter were different in SB zone, which made me wonder how they'd look in the next expansion, ShB.

It then struck me, we'll go into Garlmelard territory, Garlemald can't manipulate Aether (magic), so why would they have such item around?

I mean, we could build them, but that still seems a bit unpractical

Garleans are a minority in their empire. There would undoubtedly be pre-existing aetherytes in conquered nations.

Ha! This one's come up before so I feel like I'm cheating:

Best Reasons we Contrived for Garleans to have Aetherytes So Far:
    • To facilitate movement of conscripts and assimilated peoples
    • Gesture of good-will to conquered nations who can wield magicks
    • "It was part of the existing infrastructure."
    • "That's not technically an aetheryte, that's - uh - a magitek equivalent."
    • They were maintained as hidden, resistance-based aetherytes
    • Something something Allagans

Garleans have also shown to have some sort of teleportation 'tek. Regula teleports away at one point during a cutscene.

I'd assume Aetherite Crystals would be pretty useful in maintaining the levels of Aether in the local vicinity.

Given that the Garleans kind of don't want places turning into the Burn on accident, it would make sense that they wouldn't be in a rush to remove them from the empires they took over (Including, their own homeland after they lost it)

Also, don't count out the Garleans finding SOME use for them. Given they're always trying to either manipulate aether forcefully or study aether related tech to try and create some Magitek approximation.

So yeah, don't be surprised if you end up teleporting to an Aetherite Crystal that has a huge stonking Magitek machine hooked up to it for Garlean teleportation...

The Empire does have a more limited magiteknical equivelant of teleportation in the form of the transporter rings seen in many Castri (such as the one in Cape Westwind that leads to the off-shore Castrum Marinum - this is the whole reason we attacked that base in Operation Archon; not just to eliminate Rhitahtyn but also to shut off the transporter gate and thus prevent troops being sent from the Castrum to the mainland through it as reinforcements. Which we accomplish when Rhitahtyn is defeated - he's sent flying backwards and his body hits the device with such force the ring is damaged and effectively destroyed, hence why it starts sparking and arcing afterwards. Killing two birds with one stone pretty much).

These are linked via a cable however and have set locations for departure and destination, so they're far more limited than aetherial teleportation. So it's likely within Garlemald itself a more advanced teleportation system exists as an equivelant to aetherytes.

There are also the smaller blue "light cylinder" teleports seen in Dzemael Darkhold, and I think also in the Praetorium.

We don't 100% know that. I expected Ala Mhigo to be a zone in SB, but its a dungeon instead. Maybe we go to Ilsabard and Garlemald is background. That would suck, but its possible. It makes sense for aetherytes in "garlemald territory" because beast tribes, and other ilsabard spoken races, just not garlemald proper.

Garlemald has been able to use Magitek to mimic a lot of different forms of the magical arts. Regula conjured a tiger familiar during one of the duels with him. We've also seen Pureblood Garleans make use of teleportation devices on a handful of occasions.
