Non-interactable Section on Right Side of Screen

    Hello Everyone,

There is a section on the right side of the screen that the mouse changes to a normal Windows mouse. This creates a legitimate void within the game interaction space. Does anyone know what this spot is or how to correct it? Checked both Nvidia and Discord to ensure that all game overlays and streaming modes were off. This really causes an issue on character creation as it is directly over the confirmation icon and requires using a gamepad just to get past. It is only happening within FF14 and no other game. Unsure what else to do.

Thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

Shruen what do you mean when you say it " changes back to normal windows mouse". Also could you clarify what you mean by void? Do you mean the icon for the mouse disappears? Please provide a screen shot as well and does this happen with any other mouse?

    Hope to see you online!

I attempted to gain a screenshot but apparently the mouse cursor vanishes. There is the regular in game cursor that will look like a bigger arrow, but when hovering over this area it turns into a normal windows cursor the standard white cursor, and nothing is clickable in that area. An NPC that one can interact with is non-interactable in that small space.

Just attempted with two other mice. One being another USB mouse and the other a PS/2 mouse. Both had the exact same issue. Just an interesting note, another family member that plays the game on a completely different PC in a completely different state is having the exact same issue.

Okay, found a way to get pictures. The first link is the normal cursor in game. The second link is when it enters the invisible non-interactable box. Just FYI, it is being called a box because a rectangle can be mapped out using the cursor.

Thank you for the reply Shruen.

It sounds like it's something to do with the display setting as opposed to the mouse itself. Does it make a difference if you use fullscreen or borderless fullscreen, or change the resolution?

If it is a display issue, you may want to try a clean reinstall of your graphics drivers to see if that fixes it.

Also, unfortunately, I can't see the links you provided properly. Can you upload them directly to the forum or using a site like Imgur?

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

Hello. Just got home from work. Have tried every resolution available in the game, and have also attempted the use of Windowed mode, borderless windowed mode, full screen, uninstall and reinstall graphic drivers run as administrator, and compatibility settings. Have also tried the normal and the 64 client to launch the game. Nothing has worked so far. Also it is a Win10 64-bit professional computer if that helps. Below is the second attempt at the pictures.

Okay, after much messing around with the computer, noticed the issue was happening outside of the game on the desktop. Unsure exactly what was going on so restarted the computer again, but this time also changed out the HDMI cable and ran SFC just to cover all of the bases. The end result is the issue is not resolved by one of those three options. Thanks for the assistance in attempting to get this accomplished.

Just one more edit. The family member's computer that had the same issue was a video card driver out of date.

Thank you for the update Shruen.

We apologize for the delay in our response. If this is happening outside of the game itself, then we may be a bit limited in how much assistance we can give.

You can try a clean boot. Simply open the task manager and select the 'Start up' tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC. Make sure not to open any other programs or overlays. If there is another program interfering with the display or the mouse, this should prevent it from doing so.

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!
