Portable Orchestrion

I would like to see if it would be possible in the future to implement a portable orchestrion that could either be crafted, or maybe, purchased from the gold saucer for MGP. The idea behind this is that you would be able to listen to your orchestrion tracks while out in the overworld or running around town. I would understand if this could not be supported inside instanced content, but would hope it could be an option outside of that.

Sorry to be the joykiller here (or not, depending on how you want to look at it), but they already said that a portable orchestrion isnt rreally possible.
Now, I dont want to discourage anyone from asking for it, but (the positive part, kinda) they are already aware that such a thing is on the players wishlist, but apparently cant add it atm. But hey, at least they adressed this feature, so... thats something?

Would be pretty cool, like FFXV mp3 player - also neat if we could unlock music from other FF like in FFXV. I'd just suggest to respect Soken's work by also making it so you have to put up stations in new zones, perhaps simply connecting it to flight aether current (once an area is unlocked the station frequency is attuned, something to make sure the music and zone is presented as intended at least once).

I read they had the issue of the system changing music for the whole zone, which is why it can't be put outside housing lol - obviously that restriction would "have" to be changed for any playlist to work haha. Utter chaos otherwise.

So to your question, you yourself of course. Although I imagine you're asking me in context of their response that it is currently not possible, which would be now players saying "well make it possible then" lol.

The suggestion is on the idea that like chocobo limitations they could figure out a solution, making the music locally controlled and played.

Edit: More thought- perhaps you're asking in context of when I said "station", but that was merely a lore excuse to allow SE to play the zone's original music until the player self activates the music player in that area. Like how everyone is warrior of light and there is only one warrior of light.. Airship is always there ready for "you". There is only one station and everyone has a station, magic! lol.

Yeah, we talked about this a lot in the past. I have always supported it. It should be client side only. If i want to hear papaya over and over and over, I should be able to. It shouldn't play for others. Thats what the orchestrions are for. RuneScape has done this for years. Theres no real reason to restrict it to server side content. Seriously, why does it have to affect the whole zone? I get it if they want us to hear music that the creators worked hard on. Just make it so we have to use orchestrion rolls. It should allow us to choose a song or have one randomly chosen. It should also allow us to create locally stored playlists and cycle through the lists in order from first to last if we want to.

Yea that would be awesome. I remember them saying they couldnt do this earlier because they didnt have the tech, but its been 2 years. I am sure they have it by now. I mean FFXV has it but we all know its more complex than that, especially considering they are constantly adding new music into the game. But even if they did a basic version with only ARR tracks I would be fine with that.

"We don't have the tech" always seemed like a fishy answer to this. We know they can change the music individually, they do it all the time with mounts. I'm sure there's some reason they can't or don't want to do this, but "the system can't handle it" is probably not accurate.
