Macro Icons Greyed out on Other Jobs

Why is it that macro icons grey out if your job can't use the skill it originally depicts?
In the same vain, why does the macro icon show the mp/tp of the original action?

I feel like these really limit the ability to make creative macros, essentially limiting you to the general actions or the actions of the class you are using.

As an example: I want to make a Summon macro for my SMN, where the icon shows the new Feather Rain skill from BLU rather than the basic Summon action. Unfortunately the icon is darkened and shows the wrong MP cost.

I know this wasn't always the case, and I know it doesn't have to be the case, as macros I made before this was implemented still do not darken and show the mp cost.

I understand this feature is useful if you are making a macro for the action with the same icon, but I wish there was a subcommand to disable these effects and just show the icon if the player chooses.

This has always been the case, though? What macros do you have where /micon doesn't display as if it were the real ability?

Mm, yeah, can confrim, was kinda always the case. Clear memory of trying to use one of Titan-egi's skills as an icon for Summon II (seemed appropriate). Greyed out and everything.

Does it matter? You can still use the macro, right?

There are probably more cases where people want the icon to show the availability/cost/proc for its associated action than there are where people don't want it. So while making it optional might be nice, they at least picked the right default.

As to having worked differently in the past, the only change I remember is that there used to be more generic icons available that didn't represent a specific skill. When the ability to use the icon from any skill in the game was added, a lot of those generic icons were removed.
