    New laptop to play FFXIV

Hi, I've been looking for a laptop specifically to play FFXIV on the lowest settings for about a couple weeks a year.

Lowest settings because it'll be cheapest for playing so infrequently (my current laptop is very big and heavy so not ideal). And playing so little because I want this laptop to solely be for when I'm travelling. I'm not into high end stuff so being on the lowest settings won't bother me, I'll only be levelling or doing events, I just want to know that whatever laptop I buy will be able to actually run the game before I buy it.

My searching so far as narrowed it down to this one, an Acer Aspire E 15 E5-576-392H : https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-i...SIN=B079TGL2BZ

I might be playing WoW on it too, but I figured FFXIV would have the higher minimum requirements. Problem is with the searching I've done I'm not sure if the results all apply to the current version of FFXIV. So basically if the minimum requirements have gone up then what I'm looking at might not actually work, and that's why I'm asking here. Because I'm not sure how to compare the requirements to the laptop I'm looking at, most things seem to have benchmarks or programs that require me to actually have the laptop to test it on...

So if anyone could tell me if the laptop linked would be able to run the current game or if there's a better option around the same price I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

I don’t know how well this laptop will play FFXIV, as it doesn’t have anything other than the Intel HD Graphics, and I don’t know how well you’ll run the game without feeling like you’re playing on a toaster. Since you said you would only be playing infrequently, I don’t know how well a recommendation of finding a laptop specifically designed for gaming would be—even one on the lower end.

I was using an ASUS RoG laptop, specifically designed for gaming, and it ran HOT most of the time. Above 70c was normal and in areas with a lot of other players on screen it would hit 80c or higher. So you might want to either look into one that has a LOT of cooling in it or invest in a laptop fan to sit it on. And I don't run on super high graphics either.

First off, I'm not as hugely knowledgeable as others. That said,

I don't think you'll have an issue with your cpu or ram.
This person was able to do the Stormblood benchmark (even though min requirements say you need an i5 2.4GHz or higher) with a slightly stronger CPU than the one you have

The graphics I fear will be too weak as it's below the minimum requirements for Stormblood.

You can use the gpu benchmark site to compare the graphics in your potential laptop to the min requirements. I don't know if it would work with anything that's Intel Graphics.

    EDIT:
Here is a post on another site regarding low end laptop requirements: https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme...his_game_on_a/
Looks like the game will run on Intel Graphics, according to posters there.

I don't know for sure that your specific laptop would be able to handle FFXIV, but it looks like it has a good chance. I would definately recommend getting a good laptop cooler, and play it in a window, not full screen.
