hmmm Quanra actually knows what he is talking about... can it be... I dare to only hope.
The title of the thread is "whats wrong with wow" and mainly states someones opinion on wow and how they are doing currently in said game. At the very bottom they state that SE should implement some things it does. Then it turned into an argument over many pages. This thread is not contributing in any way to Final Fantasy XIV.
don't you think SE can learn a lot just to read this post? there are lot of ideas in here, the title is not so important. the content is important.
if you still don't get it, well I don't think I want to explain more.
I'd say its relevant. One of FFXIV's problems is its community's attempts to prevent outside ideas from affecting the game--as this thread demonstrates--along with lobbying efforts to prevent those ideas that have already gotten through from having any noticeable impact (e.g. jump), as they believe that such ideas will destroy the game by making it too much like WoW, specifically by making it easy for the average person to get into the game and level. This is ignoring the idea that WoW can be legitimately hard at high levels of play (i.e. hard mode raids and high-end PvP) or even mid-levels (i.e. normal raids, heroic 5-mans, mid-range PvP) if you're a Muggle like probably most people here are.The title of the thread is "whats wrong with wow" and mainly states someones opinion on wow and how they are doing currently in said game. I'm of the mind that a game should be relatively easy to get into, and doing anything beyond the baseline (leveling) should require increasing levels of ability from there, along with the need to team up with others, due to their difficulty.
where do I start....
the graphics are cartoonish and OLD.
the game play is about as exciting as a trip to the local library.
one job per character.
retarded flying mounts.
PVP is a gank fest (if your on a PVP server) lvl 70+ thinking they are hard for killing someone at lvl 20
PVE is rubbish to PVP is the only option really
Blizzard have been milking this cash cow for to long. they need to come up with something new and exciting.
not enough party action, not untill you get to endgame anyway (then you just get parties with asshole ninjas who steal)
Kara access when i played was well overrated. to the point of where i got kara access and quit a week later through shear boredom
oh and way to many young kids playing!!!
THE ONLY REASON SO MANY PEOPLE PLAY WOW IS BECAUSE THEY DONT HAVE COMPUTERS GOOD ENOUGH TO PLAY FINAL FANTASY XIV AND OTHER NEW GAMES OUT AT THE MOMENT. my old laptop had a GeForce GO 6150 and ran the game flat out. that same laptop scored 318 on the ffxiv official benchmark LOL

yes the ffxi/xiv community is very anti-wow despite the fact alot of stuff from wow works well, but wow gets very boring and repetitive. Running around org/dal in circles each week after raids are done..um? okay? And I don't know when the last time you played wow but the 5-mans aren't hard, even the new cata ones you can often sweep with no CC.I'd say its relevant. The new raids are kind of hard, but none of the ones in wrath were.
There's nothing stopping you from leveling/gearing an alt, partaking in PvP, or running random dungeons. Well, except you, of course, though that's a poor excuse.
On normal mode, this was the case, at least around launch; heroics were a different story. That might have changed with subsequent hotfixes and the proliferation of raid gear, though. When I was playing though, running places like HoO or Stonecore on heroic in all dungeon blues without a guild group was next to impossible. And I don't know when the last time you played wow but the 5-mans aren't hard, even the new cata ones you can often sweep with no CC.
True, though I didn't see that many Light of Dawn titles when Cata launched compared to Bane of the Fallen King, soooo... >_>The new raids are kind of hard, but none of the ones in wrath were.
The only "wow" in WoW is the "wow" after realizing that leveling was "so easy, a caveman could do it."
Of course this is the person that was willing to grind to Level 100 before fighting Ifrit on FFVIII...
I get bored with anything that feels easy. Monotonous I can handle, but I don't want a level cap handed to me on a silver platter.
I will give WoW a couple of things though. If you ignore the "easy-mode" game play, some of the End-game is fairly cool. However, I have still had more fun watching someone play WoW then actually playing it myself.
