the loldrg was post WoW also. I started before WoW was launched.
ffxi community was 100% what i was looking for. Fun community, alot of helpful players. PPl who would help at the drop of a hat. After WoW launched more anti mmo ppl joined and started turning the community into a mess.It didn't need to happen.

Some ppl just shouldn't play mmo, or make them into something that isn't the purose of it. I was watching face off last episode and what 1 of thr ppl said holds true.

When you lose your way just for money, you lost what it really means.

MMo are losing their way for sake of money and pleasing the wrong crowd for mmo. We don't need high school drama in video games. More so from an age group that is 18-50. I never played Eq Eq2 or Eqoa. And what i knew of mmo when I started was community games, that you play with other players and fun. Sorry getting harassed over a play style isn't fun nor is being stalked its a waste of money.

I started when NA launched and I just leveled solo most of the time so it took me awhile, I hated solo but FFXI being completely new to me I was lost and confused until my friends came to play. Funny thing was even during the LOLDRG days when I did worm my way into a party it always ended in "So glad we invited you instead of that DRK/SAM/WAR!" I never understood the sudden hate I mean it went from everyone beind kind and nice to people seeing my class as weak and useless and not even a "real job".

I prefer to play with older players, in every MMO that I played and enjoyed atleast one if not many of the members of my guild were 30+. In WoW I raided with a brand new Guild who weren't that great at raiding but it was fun even though larazhan destroyed our faces, we enjoyed ourselves. In APB everyone in the clan except those in my division were older then me (i'm 25) andeven the younger ones weren't immature, out of all the 3 divisions mine was the most well behaved and successful.

Stalking happens anywhere. That's dependent on personality-type, not the MMO. =P I've had three cases of serious problems on FFXI - one going as far as for a fellow flying to an airport he had heard I was eventually going to fly into and waiting there. For an entire week. He wasn't even quite sure what I looked like, but little things like that didn't stop him. He "knew" he'd know me when he saw me. Fortunately, it looks like he never saw me.

But the thing is, those incidents could have happened anywhere. It's one of the dangers of being on the internet - sooner or later, you're going to run into unstable personalities.

By the bye, in my last few years on WoW (playing on an infamous RP server, nonetheless), I have never had a problem along those lines at all.

The more people in a community the more chances you will have a troll or idiot. I think all MMO companies should reach out to a wide audience of people. FFXI main problem is its design is so blind to other kinds of gamers that years later they had to add a level sync to make up for the lack of people. Now they also watered down all other content and made xp double(among a lot of other things). On the other hand if you make things too easy your game will also fall easily(since WoW already filled that spot). WoW community attitude problem(in my opinion) comes from things being so easily obtained so if you don't have it its like "You must truly suck! They practically are handing these out to us! GTFO NOOB!"

I've said it plenty of times before. XIV just needs to hit that gray area between FFXI and WoW. Both of those games are fun for those play styles yet they go too far in 1 direction. It needs to give that fun for all yet a feeling of accomplishment feeling.
