One thing I liked about WoW that could be noted and beneficial for FFXIV was the NPC's voices.
I especially liked talking to Troll NPCs, "Ya mon" "Stay away from da Voodoo mon." Hehe I love it

I like WoW. It's done a lot of things well I think. I'm playing it now while FFXIV is down. That being said I prefer FFXIV, though FFXI was a bit too hard core for me. I find FFXIV a good balance between FFXI and WoW, and am probably one of the kind of players I think they were targetting to begin with. The bad thing is for SE, is that I am far out numbered by the hard core types who loved FFXI. At the end of the day I like most of what they've done, but I think that most popular suggestions to improve the game would really improve the game, even for a 'somewhere between WoW and FFXI' type of player like me.
yes, this is why i hate ffxiv guild leves, they have the stench of wow leveling on them and i hate them, i'm worried they will keep giving us newere leves and crystals to go to for years calling this new content. fine i guess for now as little sp boosts but not really enjoyable outside the fact that they are party play.Wow is the most easy mmorpg, ever.
It's made for people who never played an mmo before,it's watered down for them.
Accept quest -------> kill 10 rats -------> Finish quest.
Repeat 3 times,------->go to the next quest hub.
That's it,wow boss fights are even more easy and retarded 123 spam.
This is something accepted in the genre, some people like easy games, others need a game where you actually have to think and not just follow arrows and big !
also i agree with the above post, i was expecting lot of npc's in this game that talked as u clicked then or went near them, this game went backwards in mmo's, graphics aside and i really don't care bout the graphics they not so great they can do away with content, and other cool stuff that most mmo's these days are doing or trying to add. besides how many of there players have there graphics up past normal or lowest.
The main problem I see with WoW is the lack of group content, yea there are raids and dungeons but that is just not enough. I would say this is the biggest problem in every single mmo made post FFXI, devs are making Solo player multiplayer games... (my biggest game breaker of mmos, I just despise solo mmos)
outside that I would say these are my major issues with it:
1) Craft system is horrible (click a button 100% success, crazy easy to level up)
2) Everything is designed to let you win and rewards are handed out like candy at Halloween, makes some people feel good but it is a rediculously shallow experience which leaves you with no sense of accomplishment. The All reward no work. Nothing is epic if 90% of population has it.
3) Updates destroy all old content... cataclysm made almost everything if not everything in WotLK completely worthless for endgame.
4) Tiered gear for everything... FFXIV actually has this and I am very weary if this will happen in throughout the game if it does it will be a massive negative that FFXI did not have. This leads to people not doing lower level dungeons, NMs, and raids because the gear will be gimp in 4-5 levels, and is a big culprit of #3.
5) The game throws Gold at you... FFXIV has this to an extent as well but no where near the level WoW's quest do it. You can afford anything just by doing quest in WoW.
Other things not related to game play which made me hate WoW:
1) Community is the biggest collection of crap I ever seen in 1 location ever. (ask for help on a quest and you get 6 replys calling you a noob or worthless trash because you are attempting to do group quest... seriously WtF)
2) The graphics where subpar at launch. (It has improved over the years but the polygon count and texture details are horrible)
3) I do not like the art direction (Looks like I am playing an upgraded more mature toontown) This one is all personal opinion though.
4) Being locked into 1 class.... This was my biggest draw to FFXI over EQ back in the day. No idea why mmos keep doing this but I view it as a cheap way to keep you playing the game.. being forced to play the whole game 6-10 times to experience all the possible classes.
We do not speak of WHINECRAFT HERE! Baaaad kitty :PI dont know if i am going to get some normal responses but ...
Anybody know whats so wrong about world of warcraft?
I got the original game for free, because my blizzard account got an upgrade, no expansions, and so far i have been enjoying it. I play starcraft 2 for like ... 2 games a month :P
I am still in the starting area as a hunter and i dont mind my wolf at all :P There are people everywhere, you cant run around for 5 min without a quest mark, monster hunting is pretty fun, always something to discover. Npc's everywhere and with some missions there is npc interaction. I am also on a rp server so that help too, for me at least.
Maybe its because i only played for like 7 hours and its still new and all. I understand it if you have played for years or so and completed everything for 100 percent, but a lot who complain about it never even touched the game. Its kind of like arma players complaining about cod games. Its not really that bad. If i were a warcraft player i would subscribe to it.
The only thing thats holding me back is the fact that you cant use a controller to play the game. Yes, im a guy who drinks/eats/smokes while playing games. And i do believe the cut throat attitude in the higher levels, because thats everywhere. I mean gamers are out there for themselves, nobody goes into a game to be beaten all the time.
I think SE should put some stuff from that game into ff14. It never feels empty. Don't get me wrong, i like the sense of accomplishment and wow constantly pushes you towards the next quest when i just want to look around. But to say its a reason to quit ff14 is just a bit harsh to me.
I was referring more to WHM endgame, which I found quite challenging and fun. I had to be on the ball the whole fight, using the right spells at the right time, watching the mob to see what ailment it was inflicting so I could remove it.my white mage was 75, what i found out was while im PTing, I constantly repeat in a cycle. Haste on different players 1, 2, 3, mob cast silence on tank, silena, heal, sometimes a paralyse, and a silence on mob, then haste again. repeat the cycle...
after leveling a long time, my brain almost like suffering neurasthenia... you don't actually USE your brain, you just repeat...till you hit the fatigue limit.
Personally, I enjoyed the long fights in FFXI. For me it gave the sense of "fighting an epic battle." I'm sorry you didn't.Please let us enjoy our game, and we'll let you enjoy yours. It's as simple as that.
WoW gets a ton of unjustified hate. People wouldn't hate it so much but every developer tries to copy WoWs formula and they fail. You can't out WoW WoW. Blizzard did a lot right with the game even though a lot of people hate to admit it. The fluidity of controls and character movement is still hard to beat. The UI is pretty much the best around and if you don't like it you can remake it to whatever you want, also the way you interact with the objects or NPCs/Players in the game world is effortless and easy, two things 14 completely fails at in comparison.
The bad, the game is so solo friendly the whole way to level cap, and until you get into serious end game content, the community doesn't have to really rely on each other. You also don't level the different classes on the same character, your reputation means nothing at all. People end up only caring about themselves and they end up being rude and impatient, the whole community just completely sucks unless your in a good guild.
The content design keeps you farming the same raids and dungeons for a couple months until a new one is released and all your gear is replaced very quickly. Makes those hard to earned items less meaningful. On the other hand, farming sky and kings in FFXI for years was too far on the other end of the spectrum.

Player
That is why it is taking over 5 months to kill all the current bosses in hard mode, it is all easy and they know what they are doing prior to release? Please if your going to make bad claims that are untrue and fraudulent, keep them to your self. If you can't even be bothered to check the truth of your statements before hand, at the very least say it is just your opinion before somone who doesn't know any better confuses you for someone who actually knows what they are talking about.are you kidding? due to how they run the test servers there, alot of bosses have full blowl strats published for use on day 1 of an expansion/patch, its pretty retarded
in the end, wow came down to 1 thing, it was an endgame game. you raced to endgame, joined a guild, did endgame "raid", and i say raid cuz there is only ever really 1 at a time worth doing if you are on track with them. every time they released a new patch, it made everything else before it pretty outdated, and i hated that with a passion.
Honestly I think devs shoulda stuck to the old "hardcore ways". Back when ppl were a bit nicer. With launch of WoW it opened mmo to more ppl. This is what killing the genre. More ppl isn't always better. MMo do need to be a tad bit more user friendly, but not over the top. It should be a time consuming game, and the gamer shouldn't let that stop them. Rushing content is pointless. WoW brought in the wrong crowd to mmo. And they are taking over the communities. The fps crowd ruining pvp, the casual "core" gamer is brinbging their anti mmo gamer attitude. the " get a life" cuz u play for 6 hrs. Or the typical mmo gamer is a fat man who lives in moms basement.
Nearly all mmo are getting the "noob lern2play" crowd and is what is killing our communities. This was why wow is kinda hated. It brought in too meny of the wrong ppl, who are changing the mmo , not in a good way. I rather have fun in a niche mmo then be misiable in a popular one.
