Wow is the perfect game for extreme casuals who want everything easy and fast,a paradise for gaming rednecks.

Wow is the reason this genre is slowly dying, everyone tries to copy wow with wow clones. (WAR,AoC,Lotro,Rift,SWTOR).

Of course,i could care less if the western market dies, all western mmos are the same, thank god we still have the east, with epic games like FFXI,FFXIV,,L1,L2,Aion,B&S,Tera and ArcheAge (first AAA sandbox mmo in a looong time).

    Resume:
Western mmos are all casual wow clones,a shame to the oldschool genre.
Eastern mmos have more depth, more featuers, better graphics, gameplay and they all try to innovative with new core mechanics.

WOW ENDGAME HARD? hahahahaha please don't make me laugh,it's the same old gear grind made for ppl with 2 brain cells, even the hard mode instances are easy mode.

FFXI easier than wow,LOL thanks for the laughs.

yes it is , i said before, you are mixing the concept of cruel and hard

for example: ff hard in a way that don't show up the debuffs or buffs on players. all you can do is to check the log window all the time.

i'd say this is very cruel for your eyes!

on the other side, wow makes the fight very dynamic, how you control your character effectively is the key to win the fight including pve and pvp. compare to ffxi , auto-atk... except skillchain, wow has almost everything ffxi has(debuff, buff), and wow has way more crowd control abilities (sheep, hex, fear, shackle, roots, hibernate, banish, seduction, chains of ice, feral charge,Wing clip, frost trap, mind flay, earthbind totem, kidney shot, cheap shot, charm, cyclone, frost nova,sap,slow.......) which make every fight to have versatile strategies.

ff11 is the slow mode , even when you run and accidentally passing by another character will have the collision effect that obstruct you from running smoothly, how can this make the fight more dynamic? huh?

twitchy... when you use those abilities you don't just use your fingers but also use your brain ok? and brain is more important than fingers in order to react quickly and flash an idea or strategy according to the situation in an arena to effectivly fight agains other players.

Im not saying wow is hard because it has more abilities.

im saying how you use those abilities effectively and beautifully to win another player or a boss is the hardest part.

wow hardest mode is pvp = not fighting a computer but a human. that's very challenging.

well Wrath of lich king is very easy that i know, I prefer lv 60 before + burning cursade and CTM.

That's not wow's mechanics being hard. It's player vs player competition that's generally harder. It doesn't add to the difficulty of the game.

There's nothing in wow that's harder than the same thing in any other MMORPG.

ok your hard mode mechanics= boss has lot of HP, long time to kill, and it hits player very hard

my hard mode mechanics = high frequency of brain activities

Slowly dying? What are you talking about? Before WoW, the entire MMO genre was nothing but a tiny niche market that only appealed to a very small demographic. Now thanks to WoW, MMORPGs have become mainstream, and are more popular than ever.

Granted, the MMO market has indeed become saturated with WoW-clones, but that certainly doesn't mean the genre is dying, especially when you stop and take the time to consider that there are more MMOs on the market today than there have ever been before.

More like the genre is slowly stagnating, not because of Wow either.

Its prevelant if you take away wow and just FFXI. FFXIV need to have FFXI insert feature here, the sad fact is most ppl just want FFXI with new graphics. People don't want change or anything new, it's why a game like RIFT does so well. The game isn't special but it's exactly the same as people are used to. Human imperfections are what cause these problems.
