mmo are only as good as their community. A bad community makes for a bad mmo. No one wants to pay for a game only to get treated like sh#t. I quit mmo i enjoyed just cuz of its aweful community. WoW is one of them Aion is another.

unlike most buinesses. Gaming is not just about money. Gaming is an art form. Making worlds such as read in books are considered art. Like the movie industry. Just because something is popular don't mean it is good or needs everyone to like it. MMo are that type of ganre. You don't need a ton of ppl playing, or bring in other types of gamers. What if pve players went into fps games and ruined those? similar concept.

Accualy there are PvE players that join in FPS games we call them team killers . Thay go around and kill everyone no matter if there on your team or not. Right from the 1st spawn guns blazein.

Thats why in 14 if you see people trying to be distructive call them out. Get the comunity to rise up on them . We From 11 really dont want our games to have these kinds of mishaps. Allready on my server ( seronia ) someone named buggsbunny was asking me for gil following me around nonstop asking me. then the next day i came accross him he was like Dark stop! i was like dude same thing as yesterday go farm your own gil and NPC your drops . He was like ohh how did you know i was going to ask for gil. I was like cuz you did it yesterday also. See its childish lazy gammers like this we dont need

I was lvl 1 and just checking out the server. I made my way into stormwind (as usesually is the hub in WoW for ally side) ( this was just after the summer event last year nearing brewfest) I saw an opt to role play. The town was attacked by some horde guys. And i just ducked in the garden pub. I came out asked if they was gone. Then all the higher levels encircled me and bullied me calling me a Wh#re, street trast, horde spy, a Horde Wh#re. All because I was level 1 and human female. I was just testing out the server after getting my account back on after it was hacked years before. (i had quit due to play time) I took this to the server forums and pretty much ppl made excuses for it and I found myself on a 3 day ban. Yet eveyone else was ok. : /
I know playing wow i meet a lot of cool ppl but there alway on diff worlds -.- which then you add to Real ID thing on wow and try to do randoms together which take few mins to try and get together but it works.

WoW is not a bad game like others said it's the player base.

FFXI use to be fun then it become full of assholes and ppl who are full of them self. Have anyone check the forums over at ffxiah/ffxivpro? some of the ppl there are just rude. Not saying its 100% everyone but that just how ffxi became it's pretty sad but w/e i'm more happy playing with asshole then most of WoW fanbase.

In what dimension was FFXI harder than wow ?

And to answer the Op's question, there is nothing wrong with WOW, i guess different strokes for different folks.

Oh and BTW: Time sinks do not = hard

How can a game be even remotely popular without it being fun?

FFXIV isnt popular because its not fun (yet),
WoW is popular because its fun.

am i defending WoW? no, i am not (well maybe i did sounded like one for whiteknights)
but at least i am not trying to be biased here.

FFXIV tries their best to be different than the other MMOs out there and in the process they forgot the fundamental basic of what a game needs. it needs to be fun.

its kind of like Justin Bieber, how many people loathe him with stupid reasoning?
he has 8mil follower all over the world on twitter, he is popular amongst the females.
it just shows he is not everyone's cup of tea.

    ummmmmmmm dark....

think you don't get what a pve player is.. you didn't described a pve players, just a childish person.

pve gamers hate all concepts of pvp and turn fps games into say... hello kitty. Just as much as fps players going over board on mmo and taking pvp on mmo too seriouslyvs jusy good duels wit other ppl. Sorry but yelling i tbaged ya mofo isn't wat I call good mmo attitude.

With the ask for gil dude, maybe he new to mmo and only gil he had was from someone. Not making excuses for him as I prob woulda said the same thing XD but tell him nicely at first. If that don't work then he doing it to troll.

As an RPer--especially one who's played WoW for more than 5 minutes--you should know extremely well by now that RP is hard to come by in MMOs, even on RP servers. If you had done any research at all, you'd likely have discovered that WA and MG are probably the worst RP servers (or were: a new champion may have arisen since I last checked the RP community). You'd also have probably learned where the good ones are, and/or how people get their RP on; iirc, it was typically in guilds specifically founded for the purpose, or in player-run taverns, because actually trying to RP in the open world just made you look silly to the rest of the server.

Also, FlagRSP or a similar addon are pretty much required, though it opens you up to a lot of shit: for examples, look up the warcraftsues community on LiveJournal.

Of course, you could have avoided it all by rolling on a normal server. There's no RP, but there's a lot less hermaphroditic vampire demon-possessed shape-changing living DKs and other such nonsense on normal servers.

I did do research thats what I was told. And I used my roleplay. The guys who harassed me were rp'ers. I was just lvl 1

a;lso to add yes games should be fun. But said fun should be tailored to the audince of choice. Mixing several types of gamers into 1 game is not a good thinhg always. It makes for bad communities.

But again to the other guy. Making ecuses for it isn't good. All research I can do was the WoW forums and on the actual servers. I went to every server that was rp... they all pretty much had bad communities. I tried normal servers, again bad communities. I was nearly on all WoW severs last october. And not found 1 i was willing to stick with.

Well FFXI had 1 boss that only about 20linkshell globally could kill (PW), and 1 I boss I think 2-3 groups tops killed before the level increase (AV) both these bosses where out for 2+ years prior to the abysea game nerf. With CoP people would fail the normal storyline missions upwards of 10-20times before finally getting the strategy right to beat it, still to this date there is nothing in a mmo that has ever been released as hard as original CoP was that was not endgame. That and bosses that required 20-30 people to take down, and many fights that took upwards of 1-2hrs to finally win.

In the end almost no PvE is hard. All NPC controlled mobs and characters have a set way of acting, so once a solid strategy is down by the whole group it is a joke to kill. Fight something the first time it is hard as crap to kill, the 10th time it is a joke, the 20th time you can low man it, the 30-40th time you could probally duo/trio it if you where geared enough.

PW (the infamous 15+hr HNM of ffxi which really only takes about 100mins if you do not completely suck) is a prime example there where a top notch LS out that could kill it in about 80-100mins with 20 ppl with minimal deaths, and other linkshells that brought litterally 80-100 ppl to it would continuously wipe time and time again and ended up timing out at the 2hr point. Watching a video of a fight in FFXI makes it look like a complete joke, but then again most people who post video are not in the average linkshells. Even something as horribly boring as a tiamat/nidhogg fight where it is the same crap over and over is not easy at all the first time a group of people attempt it.

All I know in WoW I could go into a dungeon for the first time every and succeed without much trouble, hardmode not so much that took more focus, but anything hardcore in FFXI's endgame 1 person screwing up out of the group of 30 would possibly cause a 1-4hr ordeal to turn into a complete fail.
