whats wrong with wow?

I dont know if i am going to get some normal responses but ...

Anybody know whats so wrong about world of warcraft?

I got the original game for free, because my blizzard account got an upgrade, no expansions, and so far i have been enjoying it. I play starcraft 2 for like ... 2 games a month :P

I am still in the starting area as a hunter and i dont mind my wolf at all :P There are people everywhere, you cant run around for 5 min without a quest mark, monster hunting is pretty fun, always something to discover. Npc's everywhere and with some missions there is npc interaction. I am also on a rp server so that help too, for me at least.

Maybe its because i only played for like 7 hours and its still new and all. I understand it if you have played for years or so and completed everything for 100 percent, but a lot who complain about it never even touched the game. Its kind of like arma players complaining about cod games. Its not really that bad. If i were a warcraft player i would subscribe to it.

The only thing thats holding me back is the fact that you cant use a controller to play the game. Yes, im a guy who drinks/eats/smokes while playing games. And i do believe the cut throat attitude in the higher levels, because thats everywhere. I mean gamers are out there for themselves, nobody goes into a game to be beaten all the time.

I think SE should put some stuff from that game into ff14. It never feels empty. Don't get me wrong, i like the sense of accomplishment and wow constantly pushes you towards the next quest when i just want to look around. But to say its a reason to quit ff14 is just a bit harsh to me.

I played WoW for 4 months right before the lvl cap increase from 60-70. I got to 60 in 3 weeks. I then did endgame (naxx was ok :/), and I got bored of it very quickly. I got bored of the dungeons because I didn't find them challenging and dynamic enough. I never had that problem in FF11 though.

I also didn't like the fact that to play a new class you had to rerole a whole new char.

I would say the biggest reason I didn't like WoW was the community. It was just a completely different mentality from 11. I played FF11 for 4 years and then got bored (mainly cause my closest friends on there were almost all gone). On WoW the guild I was in was nice, but I never really became close friends with any of them like I did on 11.

However, on 14 I'm finding a community pretty similar to 11's. I like the people and the social interactions with them. Despite the low amount of content in the game atm on 14. I havn't gotten bored of it, and I'm already past the time played in WoW.

Oh please. Are you talking about wow in FF14 forum?
Anyway there is nothing wrong in wow, simply someone prefer coke, comeone pepsi, someone orange juice and someone beer.
What I don't like in wow is you are running as a hamster in your wheel alone for all the game. The group content is only the instances, raid and some (rare) quest.
Do you like playing alone? I like too, but not in a so called "MMO".
Just think, why does people say "the real game in wow starts when you are at level cap"?

Nothing's wrong about WoW.

It's like asking what's wrong about Dragon Age. Nothing, but would you like to see every RPG be like Dragon Age? That sounds boring to me.

What I found wrong with WoW was there is a VERY lacking sense of accomplishment in that game compared to FFXI up until Abyssea.

I also dislike how they pretty much killed off the social aspects of the game by making it solo heavy in the part that matters of an MMO which because WoW got popular and sparked interest in the mainstream crowd in the west, became the "standard" for MMOs to follow, thus basically killing off what MUD/MMOs used to be about.

I can agree with that. In FF14 when the skill ups were random, I grinded hours in 8-15 man parties and had a blast till 41. I then had to do 41-50 duo cause parties got killed outside leves on my server from the nov sp change. It became very boring (WoW like) doing those last few ranks, but I needed 50 to help LS with nm's. After I got to 50, it's been all group stuff for me (NM's, Leve parties and group sp on other jobs, ect..) Parties is where it's at for the fun imo.

I also liked the fact that in 11 most people when they got to cap. They pretty much knew how to play their job properly. In WoW people would be completely clueless on how to play their class in raid group cause they'd solo to cap.

Short answer: There's nothing wrong with WoW. It's just another game. I mean, I'm not a fan, but it seems to get a lot of unjustified hate from people because of all the "WoW clones" out there, even though that's more the fault of other developers and their lack of creativity/surplus of greed than it is WoW's.

That's really a problem with the MMO scene in general: it's too political.

That said, I'm not interested in Square Enix following the beat of WoW's drum. If I wanted to play WoW, I would. But I don't, because games of that type (this includes WoW, EQ, LotRO, Rift, etc.) feel hollow and lifeless to me.

Is FFXIV any better? Maybe, maybe not. I get a better sense of freedom out of it, and as empty and lacking in content as it is, it at least seems a bit more like a world, in my opinion.

I'm not saying SE should totally isolate themselves from looking at what works/doesn't work in the MMO market, but if we want any real progress in the genre, companies are going to have to start thinking for themselves again (and, say what you will about FFXIV's current state, at least it's different).

Now things have slowly gotten better but i still agree 100% with the 1st video and that is really all that needs to be said
