About the upcoming expansion's feature to visit other worlds (marketplace effect)?

I'm sure by now you've all seen some of the details emerge about one of Stormbringers' features which will allow you to freely visit other servers in the same datacenter.

Some features will be limited, they say. Do you think that would include buying and selling on the other worlds' market boards?

I'm sure other worlds would have different economies (I've only ever played on one world so I don't know for sure). Or do you think that could light up an entrepreneurial spark in some? Look for trade opportunities? Or would it ruin the economy?

Just looking for thoughts on how you think it could play out. Or do you think that MB will be one of the curtailed activities? Or trading with anyone at all for that matter.

They answered this during the fanfest.
You can't access retainers on the destination world and you can't sell things on the destination world but you can buy things on the destination world.

The effect will be lower prices overall and more homoginization between world markets as demand is balanced. People on smaller servers that are used to their high priced monopolies will complain, players with less money will be happy...business as usual.

I wouldn't mind this change if not for the fact that the prices in most server economies have been artificially reduced by an abundance of bot farmers to the point where it's scarcely even worth the time/effort to craft most mainsteam items like DoW/M/H/L gear or infusions for the amount of profit you make.

It doesn't feel worth spending a hour grinding out a stack of infusions for as little as 300K each when I could probably get significantly more money by just spamming treasure maps with a group in the same amount of time.

Overall, this is likely going to result in even more people resorting to crafting bots or just giving up trying to craft to make gil entirely.

Bots could easily run the market.

The buyer will just go to whichever world the bot is selling on to buy their gear, infusions, food and such. The bots will also have a market from multiple worlds at once. As a crafter, even if there are no bots on my world, the existence of a bot on any world in my DC will crash the market. As we've seen lately, they've even been dipping into the Rakshasa markets.

I mean, it's a cute idea to force us to craft low-profit affordable items for the players who never bothered to touch a craft in their lives, but when something sells for material cost or less it's not worth bothering. Considering they've been struggling with bot issues, I'm surprised they jumped into this idea.

I initially dismissed their seeming lack of care about bots as them simply not thinking it was an issue outside of Japan, but after browsing through the top FCs on their datacenters, there are a lot that are extremely suspicious due to having an unusually high amount of FC credits/ranking despite a small number of members and there being a huge number of crafters (Usually ALC or CUL) present in them.

Chances are they'll suffer just as much as us from world travel being introduced.

I am active on Sarganatas and Jenova, similar population numbers, vastly different economies.

It strikes me that I can transfer gil between my characters if I can buy at other world's MB.

I am in an old, mostly empty, FC but I and another member like to gather and craft so we are dripping with FC credits.

And we do not need bots to ruin the economy, on Sarg other players are happy to do that.

I'm not particularly fond of this idea where we can buy on other servers, though I do wonder how many people will actually go to the effort of server hopping to find the lowest priced item to buy. While I hope they don't implement it, the effect may not be as big as we're afraid of. -fingers crossed-

It depends on how easy they make it to hop between worlds. I'm 100% sure a certain amount of population (cheapskate virgos) will use it no matter what to the fullest extent even if it wasn't as good gil as actually farming the gil for the time spent. Then there are people like me who wont use it unless we want to play with a friend on the other world, ignoring mb there unless we actually need to buy something and then buy it whatever the price as long as it's not outrageously expensive.

Not everybody will care enough to realmhop for better deals when they know time is gil anyways, unless prices are so far apart. They probably make trip to the cheapest botty-server and buy a lot of stuff at once, if they're wise about it, so they dont have to do many realm-hops because that's a bother.

A lot of people buy gil even though it's not allowed so they can afford higher prices and be less bothered about it. I'm not sure markets will be fine, but it won't be a total collapse.

Rats are fierce, intelligent, social, emotional, cuddly and have a sense of humor. That why it's an honor to carry the name of Rat.

    The short answer is easily.

You go to the main aetheryte in one of the 3 starting cities, select to travel to another world, then go to the same city in that world and done. No fee.

It'll be about as difficult as teleporting to a specific ward from the aetheryte.

I think they should tax/fee to world hop to help get rid of some of the inflation and encourage people to spend on their own world.
