Come on. OP started at CE launch. They should know better.

What was the number one top priority that came from the first Players Poll? Answer: Add side-quests.

If anyone has forgotten what state the game launched in, i suggest go look up some Let's Plays on YouTube that date from that time.

To give a sense of how bad, the top 'want' from the player base was side-quests?! So the dev team got to work and pumped out a ton of stuff to fill the gap.

These quests in their very nature are, time-fillers, fluff, lore whatever you want to call it. They were added with an emphasis on telling more story.

The result? Walls-Of-Text, i agree but if you take the time to read them then it pays off. Some elude to far away lands, one speaks of a sister city to Ul'Dah buried underground called Sihl'da! With most being about the daily goings on in the cities and its peoples.

To have a go at the side-quests is a low-blow in my opinion. It's like criticising someone who saved your life by giving mouth-to-mouth for having bad breath.

Horrible Analogy.

If somebody had just done something as remarkable as bringing me back to life, the last thing i would do is criticise them.

Quests are dull, repititous and hardly remarkable. They are interesting lore wise and I did enjoy a couple of cutscenes, but the interactions in all the quests lacked heavily.

We have to remember that final fantasy is a game that prides itself on quests/side quests. And even the main ones are dull as shit.

The quests are a slap in the face to the franchise, and providing feedback on this is not a bad thing.

The OP is asking that SE make future changes to make quests more innovative, original and fun.

And Rightfully so.
