The concept of "leveling" has been a trainwreck for years, in many games : power level, level sync, jump potion, big and small exploits, etc.
Nobody seems to think about the motivation of having "leveling" in a game, from a game design point of view. It's just an automatism : "we make a RPG, so we need leveling".

So yeah, just don't worry too much about. FFXIV is just following the "trend".
(FFXIV actually has an answer to the lack of meaning in "leveling", with PvP : remove level altogether)

Having fun at other people's expense is not fun. I see them running around taking everything in sight, even if someone else has tagged it first and its obvious they are trying to get their spells as well. A rule is a babysitter. If people need babysitting in order to do basic things like "share", an exploit that is being used is actually being abused by bouncing donkey behinds because "we can", waving their I need a babysitter flags all over zones taking everything everywhere and thinking its fun. Fun shouldn't come at the expense of someone else, if it does, you need babysitting still. As an adult, you shouldn't need that and it reflects your character and baby like selfishness.

If you're talking to me...where did you get this idea from? I didn't compare my lvling speed to anyone else at all. I only said I bumped into loads of people using the exploit.

Because with a thousand needles you can 3-4 shot mobs far above your level (Granted you will miss 60% of the time). So my party of 2 or 3 blue mage friends hit Northern Thanalan at lvl 23ish, Leveling slowly and enjoying hunting down the spells there only to have 2 people force us to leave because they are using the exploit to kill everything in sight in seconds.

That's not a gripe, but an example of the reality of how exploiting is affecting people who do not want to exploit. This job is being called a solo focused job, but I haven't had such a nice, relaxing time with a small group of people in this game for a long time.

If you tag an enemy, you will get full credit no matter what. It means that you can apply as much pressure on "exploiters" than they can to you. In both cases, a BLU has to pull. There is no reason why they would be able to force you to leave any more than you forcing them.

Also, a side effect to this exploit is that people are done extremely quickly, meaning that there is a high turning rate. If this wasn't the case, the zones would be overpopulated with way more players staying longer, and it'd be even harder for you to find your place in prime spots of EXP (N.Thanalan for example).
We should see something like that happen in 5.X in Heavensward zones, albeit to a lesser degree since the maps are much bigger than ARR ones.

Doing a good job with that when half of its spells are locked behind group content, dungeons we can't queue for. And not like having a full blu party works either, since if one dies he won't get the skill. Not to mention the horrid drop rate, as if it was expected the BLU to get carried a bunch of times into the primal ones.

Oh... Not to mention they still end up taking just as long as any other dps to kill anything at 50, or even taking longer... They're only good for fate boss 1 shotting gimick, nothing else really unless it's in the carnival.

I can edit in the quote if you want. I highlighted that part because for a job advertised for its soloness, it's doing an amazing job of forcing me into group content I can't even queue for.

Though, I guess you technically agreed since you're having fun with it with your friends?

Maybe endlessly grinding overworld mobs is not new or fun. We had that in Eureka and it was hated. The fun of BLuwas all in learning the spells and using those spells in content or fun ways. We got the learning part and the meme part, but we don't have the content part.
