I've been replaying some old FF games lately and one thing I noticed in common with a lot of the summoners in those games is that the summoner actually gets replaced with the summon in the party.

I thought it would be a cool concept for FFXIV if when a summoner summoned something, your character disappears and the player gains control of the summon instead. Then if the summon dies or you dismiss the summon, the character reappears.

Each summon would have their own sets of combos and abilities on the action bar, and the player would have full control of the summon including movement.

Make summoning have a long cooldown, so you can't just resummon if the summon is defeated. But you can keep the summon active as long as you want as long as it doesn't die. If you dismiss the summon, the cooldown is shorter though.

Hey now! That's actually a pretty dang cool and well thought of concept for a class/job. Sadly, because it's such a cool idea by default, that means we will never see it.

You know what would happen though. Lots and lots of Carbuncles walking around Ul'dah.

For the record I'm completely ok with this.

Some more rep post on 2.0 this week. As well as exciting news from E3!

XIVpads.com is doing excellent work following E3 so I added a link to their page in the OP.

Lol you serious, you want action combat in ffxiv?
I agree with the other poster, this game will never get that sort of combat.

I like the combat, I only hope they get a few targeting issues out of the way, which I am sure they will

I like the combat too (playing tera too atm, but i prefer classic BS) .. btw it need to be really more dynamic and fluid... Atm it feels so mechanic and heavy... If he reach the latency / speed of SW:ToR - WoW .. I'll be very happy

Subjective. Feel free to sub to Tera/Blade &Soul/PSO2 if you want that type of battle system.
