Question FFXIV Boot Error Unable to download patch files. [11003][20402][19901][2]

I don't know what triggered this, can anyone help me out? I would like to be able to play the game...

The game worked fine a few days ago, then today it doesn't work, and I get this error when I try to launch it. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game, and still get the same error.

Good morning and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

When did this first start happening? Do you recall anything changing/updating on your PC or network that coincides with this?

Does this occur immediately, or does it try to download the files and then fails? Are you connected to your network via an Ethernet cable or wirelessly?

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

It started happening, I think on Thursday? My PC might have updated, I'm not sure. My network is unchanged.

It happens immediately when I try to open the launcher. (ffxivboot.exe) I have a wired connection.

Thank you for trying to help, Einmimiria

Edit: my most recent update looks like it went through in January 17th, roughly a week before this bug started happening.

    Thank you for the reply.

What are some things you have tried to alleviate the issue? Have you tried changing the Internet Explorer settings and allowing the game through the fire wall? If not please try the following:

    - Make exceptions for anti-virus/firewall
    - Update Internet Explorer:
Open the IE browser, open the "Tools", go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
    - Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
    - Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
    - Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
    - Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
    - Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
    - Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.
    - Right-Click on the FFXIV launcher icon and select "Properties"
    - Go to the "Compatibility" tab, and change the compatibility mode to "Windows 7"
    - Hit "Apply", then "OK" to save the changes.
    - Please RESTART your PC now. Once your PC has been restarted, Right-Click the FFXIV launcher icon once more and select "Run as Administrator"

Please keep us updated and home to see you online!

I've done all of the things you mentioned, and I'm getting the same error. To clarify, I need to take all of the steps you mentioned in Internet Explorer, (I did what you said, in Internet Explorer anyway) not Edge? (I can't find similar options in Edge) Since I'm using Windows 10.

Before your reply with the suggested steps, all I had tried to do was uninstall and reinstall the game.

Thank you for the reply BahamutBBob.

Yes, adjust those settings in Internet Explorer. Microsoft will prioritize Edge for Windows 10, but it will still have Internet Explorer installed. Final Fantasy XIV will use not use Edge even on Windows 10.

If this is happening instantly, you may want to check that your anti-virus and firewall has exceptions for the game. Both XIV and your anti-virus will update periodically so how they will interact with each other will change. It may be interfering with the launcher even if it hasn't done so in the past.

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

I'll see if I can figure that out. I don't use any special antivirus or firewall, just the stuff built in to Windows, I'll update this post and let you know if I can figure it out.

Edit: That did absolutely nothing. I deleted the old firewall exceptions and made new ones, and it did nothing. I completely disabled the firewall, and it did nothing. I still got the same error codes as I have been getting after doing both. Please help me. I want to play your game, and I want to keep my house and my Free Company house. If this problem takes too long to fix, I will lose both.

I got the launcher to update, and was able to log in, and now I'm getting a new error.

"Unable to launch FINAL FANTASY XIV Updater.
    [11035][30425][30415][5][19900][5]
    C:/Users/*my username*/Documents/My Games/FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn/downloads/ffxivupdater.exe"

Gonna try and run it as administrator and in compatibility mode, I'll update this post to let you know what happens.

Edit: Same error when I try to do that. Please help!

Edit 2: I uninstalled, and reinstalled from my original ARR disc I got in 2014, (I had previously reinstalled from the file I downloaded from the official website) and it's patching just fine now. I'll update this post again when it's done, if it's done before I go to bed, and say if it's working.

Edit 3: It works now, complete reinstall from ARR 2.0 DVD, and an hour and a half downloading all of the patches. Whatever broke seems dumb, I should not have to turn off my firewall or antivirus (or in this case both at the same time, leaving my computer completely unprotected) just to play a game. This is something you should look into fixing in the future.
