    Unexpected Error ffxiv_dx11.exe ....

I was getting this error any time I tried logging in:

Switching to Dx9 seems to have fixed it for now, as I've been sitting around and porting to different places for a few minutes without issue, at the moment.

However, when I was getting the error, it was nearly constant. I'd log in, look around and the game would crash. It was the same error over and over. Tried it a few times to be sure. If I was in a highly populated area, like the aetherite plaza in Limsa, I would crash within seconds. Kugane would take a little longer, as it has fewer people around, and waiting for Heaven on High queue lasted about 1-2 minutes.

I tried reinstalling my gpu drivers, did a clean install, that didn't help at all. The only thing that helped, is turning off dx11.

I hopped back to dx11 to make sure. Sure enough, crash happened again. It seems to happen faster if I look around. I sat in Kugane, by the main aetherite crystal and did nothing, the game didn't crash as quickly. It took about as long as it was taking by HoH. I logged back in and looked around, the crash happened immediately when I did that.

Like I said, though, dx9 seems to work.

Thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

Fail thank you for the information. For now I would recommend playing on DirectX9. Some other things you can try are:

    - Update/reinstall Graphics card drivers
    - Disable all programs/overlays running in the background
    - Perform a clean boot*
    - Set compatibility mode to Windows 7**
    - Make sure that any anti-virus software they have has the appropriate exceptions

*To perform a clean boot ,open the task manager and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC.

**To change compatibility mode, right click on the exe file (Default location: C:\Program Files (x86)\SquareEnix\Final Fantasy XIV - A Realm Reborn\boot\ffxivboot.exe), right click it and select ‘Properties.’ Select the ‘Compatibility’ tab and select Windows 7.

    Hope to see you online!
