Direct X download and game client

I just got a new computer and I am trying to download the game but it's giving me the prompt to download the new version of DirectX but the download fails. How can I fix this?

Download it from Microsoft's website, that way you know its the latest version.

If this is a new computer, you may want to check for Windows updates. Even if it's up to date, you may have some 'Optional' and 'Recommended' updates that you can download and install.

I have downloaded and installed all Microsoft updates and I'm having the same problem

also looking through the logs It tells me that it is already installed. but I still can't download the client.

I take it you are running Windows 10 correct ?
If you press start and type DxDiag you can run the DirectX Diagnostics tool, it should tell you what DirectX version you are using in the systems tab. Also check the Display tab as it lists your GPU driver.

Went through all that, all up to date with current version. also went through the Nvidia Geforce experience to update the graphics card driver and check multiple times to make sure there was not other updates I miss. I am really confused right now...

Well if the game client is telling you to install DirectX either you don't have the version the game needs or it just can't see the one you already have installed. Besides restarting your PC and downloading the client again I'm not sure what else to suggest :S
