They are mostly all OGCD abilities that have a recast time but can be weaved in between casts. If you are serious about blu you should get them because they only increase damage output and burst ability of blue since you don't really get other off gcd abilitiesJust out of curiosity, I just hit 50 on my blu and am now doing the primal spells. For those that got the spells, how is the dmg output and Is it worth all the trouble? Also, has anyone gotten the spells on NM Ifrit and Titan? I'm 0/10 on Eruption and haven't seen Mountain Buster yet on NM Titan.
Thanks a bunch. I was worried because even with Bristle and Peculiar Light, Blu dmg seems a bit underwhelming. I am working on unlocking Moon Flute, but don't know how much of a difference that will make. Meh, I'll probably give it a go a few times until I get tired and/or frustrated and then give it a break for a bit. They are of varying degrees of 'okay'. Garuda's looks cool to cast and the damage is alright. Ifrit's deals less damage due to no dot but is a nice insta-cast aoe damage. Ramuh's is sweet for single target due to the damage but has the issue of "%less damage for more targets" and it hurts. A lot. I cant speak for Titan or Shiva because I dont have those.
They are not worth the time. Unless you're lucky they are not worth the time, and may the Twelve have mercy on you if you're a completionist like me.
As far as I'm aware, Bristle doesn't affect Peculiar Light. I'm not sure if that's a bug or not since it does affect other DoTs. The job's damage is definitely low, even if you go full casting accessories(BLU can equip fending), so there are a lot of cases where it's mostly whittling down enemies with DoTs, Glower/Sharpened Knife spam, and Primal spells. Thanks a bunch. To quote myself "the partyfinder is already starting to turn against BLUs so I know I have to get them soon.". Now is the best time to get them because people are trying, it's new, it's cool, and the demand for them is huge. But the novelty is wearing off and the frustration for drops is setting in. On a counterpoint: people are just trying to get their books done or get a few ponies, they don't want to wait around while sub-optimal DPS whine to wait or rez so they have a fraction of a fraction of a chance to get a spell. If these spells are acquired by the end of next week I wish anyone going for them luck, because no one will want to run a group of blue mages through the same trial 60 times.
And besides that for me I'm a completionist. Gotta get all the minions I can, gotta harvest all the harvestables (legendary fish be damned). Doing the sightseeing log made me stay up till 5 in the morning because certain ARR ones that were affected by weather/time just would not show up. That dopamine release is sweet and you feel accomplished at the end of it, but this is just some parts of insanity.
Mountain Buster (Titan) is an exact copy of Ramuh damage wise. Only difference is Ramuh's hits the target at ranged an all around it vs Mountain Buster in a cone in front of you.
Shock Strike is straight up better.
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
Oh look the local SE white knight again. These aren't mounts, novelty items, or glamour. Half of the class is gated behind a rng grind fest that involves being carried by level 70s in 4 year old content. Mounts have a better drop rate than skills.
I suspect that the learning rate for abilities will be adjusted over time.
Oh look, another troll. These skills are completly optional. Period.
I asked for the reason why he went through something he disliked. And I got my answer already: he is a completionist. Also, you don't need to answer the question for him.
Keep hatin'.
