I'm not really much of a pet-class player. But a common thing I hear from my friends who play SMN is that Titan-Egi is pretty much useless in all forms of content.
After all, why have a tank pet if you can just kill stuff faster with the other two, right?

This got me thinking. What if, in a future patch, SMN had Titan-Egi have its skills replaced with more supportive ones.
Right now, it's skills are basically as follows:
  • Unleash
  • Rampart
  • An Unleash that stuns
  • Circle of Scorn but with 100 more upfront potency in exchange for 50 net potency
None of this seems like it'd be useful for any standard content.
A tanking pet is nice in theory, but XIV isn't designed for this kind of pet.

But what if, some or all of those skills were replaced with any from the following list?
  • A weaker Shadewalker (transfers pet emnity to your target)
  • A weaker Shake It Off
  • A weaker Intervention
  • A weaker Mantra
  • A weaker Cover (mitigates less, or even no damage before recieving it)
  • etc.
In other words, providing utility to the party that makes progression easier in the same way that RDM does. But instead of recovering from deaths, it works to prevent them.

Expanding upon this, one could also retool Ifrit-Egi and Garuda-Egi to reflect personal-DPS and party-DPS respectively. The former coming into play in Dungeons, and the latter coming into play in 8-man content.
That way, you'd have three tenets: Personal, Party and Progression.
