When you need a clickbait title to make yet another BLU thread that adds nothing new that couldn't be said in the other existing ones, and say that a 3mn duration for a buff isn't enough, while also putting 1000 Needles aside when it's actually your most powerful skill for early and mid progression... Err...
Let's just say that "valid" isn't the word I'd use in regards to that opinion.
I drop mighty guard because I'm not just spamming 1000 needles. Which is, incidentally, the same reason I'm using bristle; it's to buff the bomb that follows 1000 needles. I cast it before because I have the luxury of time since all of the mobs are asleep. Needles is just a flat, 1000 points of damage, spread across all mobs it hits. For my current level and gear bomb hits for around 70 dmg on a mob my level; buffed with bristle it becomes just over 100. And that's per mob. Which means when I have big packs of mobs on me, the way I like to pull, bristle/bomb dmg is nearly or just as good as 1000 needles spam, and the two spells together take half as long to cast. So please tell me how I am "spending a lot more time casting spells you really don't need to" when my rotation is equal in dmg and twice as fast as spamming one button?Since you dropped the "creativity" card
Why are you dropping Mighty Guard when you're going to use 1000 needles? The fact that Mighty Guard is up does not affect 1000 needles at all. Neither does bristle, by the way so there's no point in casting it before using 1000 needles. You can cast all that with mighty guard up and not even need to heal. I mean, sure you can be blissfully ignorant that you're spending a lot more time casting spells you really don't need to in order to kill a mob, all power to you.
And for the record, your tone is less insulting than your insinuations that I don't know how basic spells work. Especially when your either didn't bother to read my post well enough to comprehend what I am doing or yourself lack that very knowledge.
And between mighty guard and white wind (two spells they hand you on a silver platter) 4 BLU can easily complete dungeons. That's how I did the level 20 class quest. And we did it sync'ed. Meaning that-is objectively false. How can it be "bugging" people when they are getting just as much out of the run as you are?
Duty Finder is a luxury, not a necessity. Maybe I'm not fussed about it because I played MMOs before automatic matchmaking systems became popular. I remember the days of standing around in cities, spamming chat channels to try to scrape together people for dungeons. PF would have been a gift from the heavens then. I'm certainly not saying I yearn for those days, because they were awful, lol. But Party Finder makes it sufficiently easy and convenient to find groups... just not quite as mindlessly easy as DF.
I was neutral when I went and picked up the BLU job. I didn't really have strong feelings one way or the other about it or limited jobs, except maybe to be sick of people constantly bickering over it the last few weeks. I kept an open mind and was able to find the fun in it. I get the strong impression that some (either for or against) made up their minds long before it went live today and, if it's true, I'm sure it's coloring some peoples' perception of the job.
Even if that is the case here, it's fine that the OP isn't impressed with BLU, I never said her opinion was invalid. All I did was challenge her use of "the same three spells over and over" and point out that it's not necessary. Which it isn't, if you are willing to go beyond the shallowest and most obvious use of the spell toolkit we've been given.

I'm enjoying it so far, a good bit actually, but I'm also aware that it's not perfect. Hopefully adjustments will be made...good ones, not bad or pointless ones. You have a few good points. I wouldn't call BLU terrible design personally, but it certainly has some issues. It has a lot of potential that hopefully won't get wasted.
I dunno, my friends and I are having a blast with it.
While the job is fun and the damage is technically fine for most dungeon trash for solo the issue lays within the fact that even full geared out you are still very slowly killing some dungeon bosses.Take the worm for example second boss in cutters cry. It's easy to solo but it takes so long to kill it does get boring. This is with the damage buff skils and debuffs for enemy.
It's clear that the job was designed for fighting trash but not designed for soloing dungeon bosses effectivly. The burst damage isnt very big on bosses and some of the potential combos aren't unusable.Cant petrify a boss for example to gain the potency buff from drill cannon.
Cant use self destruct with oil because it kills you and if whatever you hit with it doesnt die then that enemies hp is reset. While i understand it was created more as a meme skill i didnt see the point in being given final sting aswell..
We cant use them solo and if we run with a blue mage team they cant res you anyway.
I still am enjoying the job and i dont care much for solo play but the people complaining about it i can understand their frustration as SE didnt properly deliver them the side of the job they wanted.
I find it a little bit strange that they require you to complete dungeons to acquire skills yet you can't use duty finder to do so. Guess you could use party finder but it just seems an odd choice to make.
「Life is such a fragile thing…」
You can use party finder for as many weeks as BLU stays popular. But once the collectaholics like myself have BLU at 50 and all theirs spells how many PFs will there be, or people willing to join them, for other BLUs to get their spells.
You can easily solo Tam-Tara at level 20, the level you need to unlock the quest anyway.Yet, our level 20 job quest requires learning a spell from a dungeon and it's not a guaranteed learn. Meaning we either have to: overlevel the dungeon and run it solo ourselves over and over again with no XP or anything or bug people to join us in party finder over and over again until we learn the spell because the only mob you can learn the spell from is the last boss and you have to run the entire dungeon again if you happen not to learn the ability from him.
But, you're bored by having to redo a whole instance again if the last boss doesn't give you what you want and that you don't gain Xp ? Completely not like EX trials...and raids...and 24-man raids...and past relics...
