If I am understanding this correctly you are comparing end game crafting gear vs leveling gear. The artisan gear is harder to get because at the end of ARR is was really good crafting game to craft end game items, if you had level 50 crafters this was the gear you strived to get. People that had this probably used it to level all the way to 60 when HW released because the gear was really good. Now if you started HW withput level 50 crafters or you were level 50 but didnt have good gear, you simply did leves or collectables and obtained leveling gear because it was much easier than obtaining the level 50 end game set.

This is true for all expansion so far, HW had the level 60 ironworks, and when SB released they used ironworks to get to 70 without obtaining leveling gear. But people whi didnt have crafters leveled obtained leveling gear.

SB has its own set, which will likely be used to level to 80 for anyone who kept up with ceafting, but for people who didnt they will use the much easier to obtain leveling gear.

This is pretty much the same for dow/m if you keep up with end game raids, your gear will likely be good until level 75. If you didnt you will have to work slightly harder when leveling. Its a very slight advantage if you did end game in the previous expansion when going into the next expansion.

You are the only one seeing a problem.
Sure, it is true that level 51+ recipes are hard to make HQ unless you yourself have at least the same level as the recipe and have good gear. So what? There is no need to make them HQ at that point.
Yes, it is a bit of a speed bump for crafters during levels 51-53 or so, but it is not a problem as such. You can easily level up by handing in NQ items for GC turn-ins and levequests, until you can get and equip level 52/53 gear - much of which can be easily obtained as HQ from levequest rewards.

On-level or not, doesn't matter, you're not doing it unless you got the skills/stats for it, whether that's higher or lower than the recommendation.
That's true but other then leves how are you gonna level crafting? Grind it out until you unlock Mog. Ixali dies off at 50 and you can't unlock mog until 56 since the last quest in the chain requires level 56. You can't do custom turn in's until 55. You're only given 6 leves a day. Not HQing them means you get 1 level per day maybe 1 and a half. 4 to 6 levels a day in combat classes. So your crafting lags so far behind your combat that it's completely pointless to even bother with it until 70. So yea it needs streamlining. Argue all you want isn't going to change the fact that crafting is pointless until you've nothing left to do in the game. Could be better with streamlining. But crafters are happy with the way things are. Less people crafting means more in game money for them. I don't fault them for that. I fault SE for making crafting pointless with illogical decisions.

With 0 overmelding of any kind on level 50 gear (which you should have, given how easy grade 1-3 is to get from the ixali, a source I still use for overnelding level 70 stuff), and not including Supra weapons, you hit 421 craft, 379 control, 354 cp pre-food (47 craft) which youre expected to be using for on-level hq crafting.

    That's 468. Familiar number.

Overmelding makes it 479 craft, 424 control, 361 cp without food, which is already ahead of that number.

At 50, you arent expected to be making hq level 51 stuff regularly unless you're wearing bis, in fact, a hidden level check that makes recipes above your level take SIGNIFICANT difficulty hits until you hit 51 (and then once more at 61).

If you arent using food and you arent using the best current gear, you wont be making a significant amount of hq items. That's crafting. If you dont expect to have to have current gear on battle classes to have the best results. Dont expect the same from crafting. Crafting is arguably more demanding.

The game already hands us an inordinate amount of stuff. While I'm not complaining about that, I appreciate that the fact that if I work hard at the end of an expansion to max out my DoH and DoW gear it actually has a benefit to me in the new expansion.

Oh ok, so this is just yet another "I can't print Gil for minimum effort or without extensive preparation" rant.

Note: Taking advice from a players alt, is like taking advice from a voice in a dark room. Criticism is a two way street remember that!!

Crafting a recipe for the first time gives you extra exp.
Collectable system unlocks at 50, collectables can be turned in for extra exp.
Back when I leveled my alt's crafting, I didn't have the best crafting gear on it, and I did just fine without custom deliveries or mog (since neither had been added yet, at the time.).

You're also conveniently leaving out GC turn ins, which is a good chunk of exp, for every DoH, every day.

Then spend some extra time/gil getting HQ materials, to make it easier to HQ an item? That's kind of the point of HQ materials.

Disciples of the Hand are classes on their own, they don't need to be brought up at the same time as your combat job. If newer players care enough to level both their DoH and their combat job at the same time, then they'll just have to deal with the fact that it's going to take extra time, since they're essentially leveling up multiple jobs at once.
Besides, crafting isn't just about crafting things to use on your main job. It allows you to craft gear for you alt jobs, and for other players.

So no, the system doesn't need to be streamlined. If players care about crafting, they won't have much of an issue going from expansion to expansion (if they have any issue with it at all). If they don't care about crafting, then why would they suddenly care once the system gets streamlined?
And you should really stop trying to speak for all these newer players, because you seem to be biased towards crafting being pointless. Let them create their own opinion regarding the crafting system.
