cross-platform gifting

some time ago, i purchased a mount as a gift for a friend/fc member. i play and access mog station via pc, he plays via ps4. for whatever reason he was never able to get the code for the gifted mount to work. now, i would like to gift the game to an irl friend who i think would enjoy it. again i play on pc and he plays on ps4 ... (i also have a ps4 account, but do not have ffxiv for console, just pc) is there a way to go about this and if so, how?

To buy the game itself for PS4, it's generally either purchased through the Playstation Network (which only works by being logged into the PSN account that it's for) or the boxed version is bought from a retailer. The later is the best way to give it as a gift. The PS4 boxed version will have a code inside that your friend can enter into the PlayStation Store.
