An exchange means something is asked and something is delivered, there are at least 2 persons involved in an exchange and you should not involve people who don't want to. Yelling on global channels what you found without knowing if anyone else wants the information is not something I would call exchange at all. At best it's spreading information, at worst it's spam and/or spoilers, and it's most likely to interfere with others experience because no one asked for this.

If information is expected to be shared between players in order to progress, then they're going to use public channels to do so. If you don't like it, then turn chat off and keep it off.

Learning how to obtain a spell is not a spoiler. There's no plot twist involved in making something hit you in order to learn the skills. Learning how to BLU is a community effort. If you want to learn it all organically on your own, by all means do it, but don't expect others to cater to you not wanting to hear """"""spoilers""""""

I'm feeling so immersed right now waiting for glide bombs to spawn so people can kill them before they cast self destruct.

I feel like we're standing together now lol. Was waiting for it too but there are a few people on rotation killing them all now (level 70s). Might be better to come back or try to learn it from the dungeon ones~

Private messages and parties exist for a reason, they keep your talk to the concerned people. When someone is asking you something, do you go in the middle of the street and yell the answer so that everyone can hear it? I believe not.

I'm not saying that the players should not share information. They simply should do it with other players that are asking for this, and thus not use the global chat channels.

Did you turn off Alliance chat in your first Orbonne run so people didn't spoil mechanics for you?

What I'm trying to tell is that it obviously happened after I realize it was needed, thus having an impact on my early experience with the blue mage. That's why I hoped SE would have done something for this, like creating a dedicated channel for blue mage talk, or restricting it to private discussions for a few days. I never said that information shouldn't be shared, I said it should have been made the way that people who want to share it or receive it could have done it without altering the experience of the others. Opinions are made to improve further similar implementations, and SE may want to hear something different than just full praise or full bashing.

Your opinion's not a truth. It makes a major negative difference to me to know where to learn the skills since I expected to revisit the old areas and find it by myself. Also, the analogy of story/spoiler is complete nonsense. If you watch the replay of a sports game you missed, being told the final result is a spoiler, and there's no story involved. A spoiler isn't about story, it's about telling you something you didn't want to know about a something and that will negatively affect your own experience with the said something.

Trying to enforce your opinion on me won't work. What isn't a spoiler for you may be for others. And making stories up about what I wrote is somewhat funny, I didn't know I wrote something that deep with so many hidden meanings. I just wrote my opinion for the sole purpose of giving my opinion of what could have enhance my own experience.

The idea behind blue mage is excellent, and I'm having fun with it. But to think that I have to isolate myself from the community to experience this content to its full extent makes me think something is wrong in the execution. SE should really have forbidden the spoilers on public chat channels, at least for a time. I had to turn all of them off because there was a spoiler on how to get a blue mage skill every 3 minutes. But on this one I have to agree that for once, it's not only SE's fault, that's also the lack of education and respect and SE has no control over it.

You did the right thing by turning off your chats. Its not other players responsibility to not "spoil" this for you.

Not really, considering it's not exactly common for people to go around spoiling the actual story for new players (or those who have yet to complete MSQs). I'd say the community generally does a decent job at not spoiling plots. But maybe you just forgot you're playing an MMO game with hundreds of thousands of other people, and consider it perfectly reasonable to expect SE to actively police all these players and "do something" to punish them for spoiling sacred BLU information.

With Blue Mage, they've breathed new life into FFXIV and created an entire new way to view content and play the game. I have every job to 70, and this is the most fun I've had playing an MMO in years.
